[Mario Kart] Toblet's Top Characters!

Oops, I guess I forgot. xD But still, I have yet to see someone use him in online custom tracks, and rarely see him online in general. However, basically if he appeared in Mario Kart 8 with his Dark Moon design virtually all his problems would be resolved; he would not only look more unique and special, but as a result of that would probably be used more often (not to mention I hope those crappy Mario Kart Wii character stats are gone completely >_>). Then he'd almost certainly make the top-ten. :)

Anyway, I remember at this point really struggling to decide positions of characters because everyone in the top 15 are very good characters.
About time! =p
So, without further ado,
who will be revealed next?

Bowser Jr.

Bowser Jr. is feisty, has great ambition, but at the same time acts childish (well, considering he is supposed to be a child that's not a negative =p) but also bratty when he wants to be. Bowser Jr. to summarize is the replacement of the Koopa Kids, and thank god for that because Bowser Jr. is much better than them for the fact he's not generic, has a unique character model, and a distinguishable personality. I also like his bib as it's very eccentric for a character to have one. But unfortunately he does share pretty much the same colour scheme as his father, Bowser, and due to his short-temper can unnecessarily overreact to situations when he doesn't get his own way to a much greater extent than Bowser. While Bowser Jr. is a great character, so are the others still in the list so that's why he positioned 15th.

Hey, what do you know? While Brookelas claims another point, both Luigifan3DSGCN and the Lost Luma score 0.5 of a point!

Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong is the main Kong, and is one of the original 6 characters. DK was for some reason the last-minute replacement for Kamek, who was originally intended to be playable in Mario Kart 64. He usually tries to help Mario when he can; although when Pauline is involved it's a different story! =p I'd say DK looks the best in HD considering his fur looks absolutely fantastic and realistic and such an improvement over this current model. However, I do think he's bland; I wouldn't really want to play him for very long as I'd get bored, which is a shame because he produces some of the best and most fun Mario Kart tracks that I could play all day long! - DK's Snowboard Cross, GCN DK Mountain etc. Even though he is undoubtedly a great character, I personally think he's missing a 'special' unique quality which would make think "WOW, this character is amazing!" that would set him apart from the other Kongs, and I would prefer to play as all the other characters currently on the list.

Luigifan3DSGCN scores 0.5 of a point! Well done!

Princess Daisy

Daisy is the princess with the most personality; however, this isn't necessarily a good thing because it's over-the-top with a voice to match; for example: "HI, I'M DAISY. HI, I'M DAISY!". It's amusing for a short while, but then gets repetitive. She does sound like she's shouting half the time especially in Mario Kart. I much preferred her classic Mario Party 3 design that had a tan, a unique model, and a very nice voice. Smacking Bowser to the moon also gained my respect and this also proves she's not helpless. :p But I wish Daisy had her own unique dress instead of one that's virtually identical to Peach's.. Another thing is, Mario Kart Wii almost ruined her because of the fact she was the fastest medium weight character which meant she was very much overused and often even more than Funky Kong! Thankfully her other appearances make up for that. Daisy is a strong, powerful tomboy that greatly adds variety to the roster and is therefore a necessity in most Mario spin-offs. She is a lot better than Waluigi so it annoyed me when he was added over Daisy in Mario Kart GP DX (although if Rosalina is added like the hints still indicate, it wouldn't bug me so much) due to Peach being the only female in a roster of 12! ...Really Namco? Despite many chances, most notably Luigi's Mansion, Daisy still cannot get into a main game and remains spin-off exclusive, so I do sort-of feel sorry for her. But yeah, good Mario females apparently seem to be rare, but Daisy is ultimately one of them.

Luigifan3DSGCN claims another 1 point!

Toad and Toadette

I didn't really want to separate the two so I thought, why not do them together? I've rated Toadette slightly higher than Toad though.

Toad I think is a fairly bland character. He's also pretty generic which doesn't help. And I'm not sure about anybody else, but I preferred his voice from Mario Kart 64. xD However, he undeniably has a lot of importance in most Mario games so he is a very significant character and always tries to help whenever he can. He's caring and compassionate and has been proven to enjoy traveling for example by the Toad Brigade's willingness to explore the galaxy. Unfortunately he's often unsuccessful in his endeavors, sometimes even being completely useless running around helplessly due to fear. But Toad is always happy which is always a positive and quite funny - I like bouncing on his head. :p One good thing that's becoming more and more prevalent in recent Mario games is the use of his different alternate colours. At least this makes the default Toad look a little more special.

Toadette only has two negatives from my point of view: She's not that much of an important character and looks like Toad with pigtails. However, when you look past that, you can see a girl who is adorable, always happy, always smiling, is a loveable character and has such a nice sweet personality. Also Toadette (user) probably made me like her more. :p And I love the fact she was in Paper Mario: TTYD as a tutorial host for Mario. Toadette is fearless and befriends anyone, including her enemies! I like her colour pink and she adds female variety to the roster; so it's almost no wonder she returned for Mario Kart 8! It's just a shame Nintendo couldn't be a little more creative with her character design; give her a hat or something to make her stand out and be her own unique character! Just a little added extra like that probably would've pushed her into the top 10. So close!

Despite the two character reveals, only Luigifan3DSGCN scores 0.5 of a point!

My new condensed list (If this is legal. If just the newcomers fill up spots and no one returning changes place, that's okay too if the rules say.):

I strongly considered that, but I think it's better and fairer for everyone to keep their original lists. I don't really want to suddenly change the rules now when it's so close to the end. Sorry. :<

Anyway, the first reveal of these fantabulous characters is here! With the next announcement, looks like you guys will either be REALLY pleased, or REALLY disappointed. Lets see..

He's green!
He's generic!
(In his dreams =p)
He's an enemy!

Luigi

From my viewpoint, Luigi is joint third with Peach for being the most important Mario characters; beaten by Bowser - the main villain and Mario (self explanatory). He's rather ditzy and clumsy and scared of a lot of things but these traits give him personality! But he does appear to be skeptical and scared of just about... everything =p, as demonstrated in his first scene of the subspace emissary. Really? Come on Luigi! "No need to worry!." As Dawn from Pokemon would say. Contrary to popular belief, I think Luigi is treated by Nintendo very well. Even though it's arguably unnecessary, he has some-sort of appearance, no matter how small, in every(?) Mario game in existence. These roles usually involve helping Mario save Peach. But in his own games, such as Luigi's Mansion and Mario is Missing, Mario is actually kidnapped and therefore has to be saved by Luigi himself via Goomba-stomping, answering Geographical questions or a vacuum (watch out ghosts, the sucker is here! =p) Luigi is undoubtedly heroic and a fantastic character overall and has done so much over the years which is why he positioned in the top 10.

0.5 of a point for Brookelas and The Lost Luma!

*Reading the prologue*Heart's beating in intense silence, hand approaches open jaw in despair, yet my eyes are only watering a tiny bit(I don't even have to take my glasses off); clearly something is wrong. "Serious..fantabulous....important...personality...undoubtedly heroic and fantastic, etc." that must be it, but still, shock, though I couldn't resist placing Lu anywhere less than the best.:-[ It hurts, but is softened with love.

I hid your comment in a spoiler, hope you don't mind The Lost Luma. But yes, you were right on that. xD But anyway, getting in the top 10 for a list of 33 is nothing to be disappointed about. :p

It's that time again! This character should be in jail for the amount of crimes committed for a video game character!

Will you be pleased this time?
Or disappointed?

"Get out clone bone!"

Dry Bones

Dry Bones is basically all the names under the sun: Clone. Generic. Unoriginal. Such a criminal. =p He even has bad Mario Kart Wii stats and is probably the slowest character in the game; and on-top of that his Mario Kart Wii standard Kart colour is terrible! But to be honest, as strange as it sounds it's because he has so many flaws, I sort-of feel sorry for him; but he does at least he have a unique character model. But anyway to the point, I do have a small bubble of characters I generally use for Mario Kart. I rarely use anyone else. So one day I began experimenting with characters I didn't really mind, but without success. Then, I played as Dry Bones. Credit to where it's due, he's probably the first character outside my bubble that kept me entertained for hours! O.M.G. he's hilarious! He's so crazy I love it! I can see why SZ likes him. =p Forget his flaws, his personality alone more than makes up for that! In-fact I was so entertained, I made a separate account that mained Dry Bones, and got a lot of satisfaction from beating high VR Funky Kong/ Daisy users. The account currently stands on just over 9500 VR (with the gold wheel); just from playing Dry Bones; one of the slowest characters in the game... Yeah, I really enjoyed myself then. xD

Mariofan56 claims his first point! ...But is it too late?

We're nearing ever closer to the top 5!

Wiggler_MK7.png
Wiggler

I love Wiggler! His happiness is contagious and puts a smile on my face! But, the most important thing is, he has one fantastic quality no other playable character has; this quality easily distinguishes him from the bad characters because it makes him completely unique in his own way. It's the fact that when hit by an item, he rages and literally turns red through anger. How awesome is that? Nintendo really captured his personality there. His one minor flaw is that he's a generic enemy; however, in my opinion it's a pretty weak reason on its own to dislike him. I would love to see him return; nonetheless it's undeniable that he was only suitable to be playable in Mario Kart 7 because half his body was hidden in the Karts. Would he really be able to ride a bike? But then again, that's another reason why I like him; just like a Caterpillar, Wiggler can evolve into another species called Flutter. This is another neat feature no other character has and it could very well be that Flutter replaces Wiggler for a playable spot in the roster. Now wouldn't that be interesting? :p

Wario

Wario is a character that I love for nostalgia reasons; D'oh I missed is an absolutely awesome catchphrase that made me love him in the N64 days. Though admittedly I preferred him more back then, he's still undeniably great now. :p Wario is incredibly important; even having his own gaming series. He has a unique character model, and own distinguishable personality, and is one of the original characters. I absolutely love the combination of yellow and purple as-well. Despite ideally wanting to be evil, as demonstrated by his mischievous personality and plots to steal valuable treasures, Wario often ends up being the good guy and actually helping Mario. He's incredibly clumsy, ambitious, strong, tenacious, gassy, but actually intelligent as-well because he is the mastermind behind all the evil plots (*cough* *cough* Waluigi >_>), and though often unsuccessful, at least he tries and doesn't give up on his dreams. He's like a half-villain because he's not quite pure evil, but not entirely good either; hence adds variety to the roster reinforced by the fact that he's the only overweight human character. Mario games just would not be the same without Wario. :p

Nope. Nopidy nope.

I know! I don't really like it when people classify Wiggler as 'just another generic enemy'. He's much more than that like I've said. :)

We're just one spot away from the top five! Anyone notice anything about the top 6 characters? I won't spoil it yet just in-case anyone wants a guess. :p

Who is the unlucky one to just miss out on...
The Top Five!!

Shy_Guy_(Mario_Kart_DS).png
Shy Guy

I'm going to be saying this a lot from now on but Shy Guy is a character I absolutely love! Just like Dry Bones, he's absolutely hilarious, great fun to play as and my perfect character to use if I just feel like messing around. Shy Guy is well, shy, and has never been seen by anyone except Luigi without his mask. If anything his mask makes him more intriguing as a character because of the 'unknown', and we can always guess but will never 100% know what's exactly underneath it, and judging by Luigi's reaction in Mario Power Tennis, it's probably not pleasant. :p His one minor flaw is that he's a generic enemy, but to be honest, it's not something I care about if their personality makes up for it; like Shy Guy successfully does. He's absolutely adorable and it's also touching that all he wants to do is join in the fun with Mario and friends. However, despite missing out on the top five, sixth place is still a fantastic place to be positioned.

If you'd like to have a look at what he may look like without his mask, feel free to check my art topic.

Mariofan56 gets a perfect 2 points!
