Well, the idea of co-hosts comes with the boards.
1.Peach's Castle, Host: Toadsworth. You get stars classic style, go to the star and pay 20 coins
2.DK Island from DK64, Host: Funky Kong, The way to get stars is by getting to the peak and the star rules are like in MPDS in DK's Statue.

3.Delphino Plaza, Host: A Pianta,  stars: Random boxes style like that of Kameks library from MPDS.

4. Rosalinas Observatory: Host:Rosalina,Stars: Classic style.

5.Daisy Cruiser: Host: ??? (i have no idea) Stars: Classic Style

6. Bowser's Castle: Host: Bowser Jr., Stars: It will be like a maze, when you reach the top, you either reach and get the star or get bowser to steal stuff from you

7. Rainbow Road: Host: Millenium Star. Stars: Classic Style.

Yoshi's Island
Host: White/Black Yoshi
The board is based on the overworld areas in Yoshi's Island.
How to get a star:
1. Collect up to 3 Yoshi eggs (this will be stored in a seperate inventory), it can be found in Green Spaces or bought manually from a Yoshi on the side of a space.
2. There's a space designated for a roulette, go to that space.
3. Spin the roulette, the roulette has 3 kinds of things in it and has the following conditions:
    - If you haven't collected Yoshi egg, it will be filled with coin, coin loss, and Ztar.
    - Collect 1 Yoshi egg, it will be filled with a star, a coin, and Ztar
    - Collect 2 Yoshi egg, it will be filled with a Ztar, and 2 stars
    - Collect 3 Yoshi egg, you have 100% chance of getting a star
This system is similiar to Yoshi's Island game which collect flowers and spin the roulette at the end of a stage.
There will also special eggs that can make a +2 star appear in the roulette, or slower the roulette, or cause bad effects on opponent.

Final Note: Sorry for the very long description.

I'd might as well talk about my entry for the GS Contest, Hammer Hotel.

Hammer Hotel is essentially a 2-building complex connected by 'expressways'. The Hammer Building (with the Start Space and rooms) is based off the luck-styled boards like Neon Heights; the Mallet Building (the one with the arcade, diner and basement) is a one-way board with usual Star earning method.

Most other info is on the drawing, in My Pictures or in the GS Independent Board Contest 1 Topic (in the GS Safe).

EDIT: Ok, time to get the description down!

You start outside Hammer Building. Go inside and get a room card from the Hammer Bro Receptionist (5 coins). There will be a number corresponding to which floor you can use the card on. When you get to a locked door corresponding to the floor of your room card, you may choose to open the door or pass. Opening a door relinquishes the room card, so you'll need toget another one. Behind the door, there may be nothing (not good), a Bob-omb (sends you back to start, which may or may not be good), some coins (5 or 10), or a Star. Once a Star is found on a particular floor, the stuff behind the doors is shuffled. Before that, opened doors remain open and are inaccesible. The exception to all of the above is the Kucky Floor room, which is always open and always has a Star inside. No need for room cards!

? Spaces in this building:
GF - a mixup of room cards means all players with room cards have them shuffled randomly.
1F - a smoke alarm goes off, everyone evacuates to START.
2F - 1. Play the piano (with a Wiimote!) and get coins!
      2. Help the lost Boo locate his room; you are shown a picture of the region surrounding his room and you must tell him what floor his room is on. Success = coins.
3F - Talk to the Koopa, wo will ask you to find his family who are in the Mallet Building. This ? Space will vnish and one will appear on a random blue space in Mallet Building. land on the new ?Space and you get a Star or 30 coins as a reward. The ? Space will reappear on 3F once this is done.

---

Mallet Building is the other building in Hotel Hammer. The only way to access it is to go through the Expressways. NB if you land on ? spaces inside the Expressway, you get teleported to the other Expressway's corresponding space (and so will your rivals!). So if you were on the DK space in one of te Expressways, and someone steps on the ? Space, you will be moved to the Bowser Space.

Mallet Building itself is a one-way board with Stars bought the usual way. All the ? Space Events are minigames -see the image for details.

There are SO many board ideas I have for a Mario Party 9 - but here's one that I seemed to have though the most about:

~$Lady Bow's Millionaire Resort Club$~

In case you didn't know, Lady Bow is the female ghost you see as my avatar- she was in the very first Paper Mario.

But anyways this board would be on a volcanic island where there are a lot of fancy bungalos along the  sandy shoreline. Basically, since it's a MILLIONAIRE resort, the stars are unusually expensive as well - 50 coins! Also, since the volcano is quite active, one o the happening spaces causes it to possibly erupt...there's always a 50% chance of erupting - in the event that it does erupt, you'll want to make sure that you're underneath a bungalo along the shoreline so that the ashes don't cause you to lose half of your coins! Also, if you're along the side of the volcano, the pyroclastic flow when it erupts will cause you to be pushed all the way back to the start area and you will lose ALL of your rings.

Also, at certain points on the board, a receptionist will require you to pay 10 coins to pass into certain areas ( since you're a millionaire and all)

Lady Bow would likely be the host since she's often portrayed as being very snooty and all about class, wealth, and material possessions. The idea of a "Millionaire Club Resort" seemed to fit her well.

And as you probably could tell this would be a very difficult board.

Here are my ideas for MP9 boards:
(all boards will have a SMG tie-in)

Honey Bee's Garden Galaxy: Host: Queen Honey Bee  Playing Mode: Classic

Kamek's Hexed Dimension: Host:Kamek  Playing Mode: First to the top with enough coins gets the star. Price increases by 10 coins until it hits 50, then price gradually goes down in same manner

Pinata's SunnySide Bay: Host:Mayor Pinata  Playing Mode: Rent a boat for 20 dollars, which will take you to an island, which may or may not have a star. One island has nothing on it, One island has Toadsworth, who will give you a star, One island
has Bowser Jr. who will steal a star, or coins if you dont have one.

Ballyhoo's Celestial Celebration: Host: Ballyhoo  Playling Mode: Pay for Chian Comp Ride for 10 dollars for 1 dice block, 2 dollars
for two dice blocks, and 30 dollars for Three dice blocks. Smash opponets and steal one of their stars.

Hammer Bro's Hovering Hotel (Idea From H-J) Host:Hammer Bro.  Playing Mode: (same as H-J's)

Bowser's Clamamitous Club (idea from Taz775) Host:Bowser  Playing Mode: Get to star space, then duel bowser for star.

Rosalina's Amazing Observatory: Host: Rosalina and Luma  Playing Mode: 50 dollars for 1 star
