Local/Online Multiplayer

Do you think MP 3DS will be the first MP game to finally have an online multiplayer? I hope it does have online multiplayer. Local is basically a given because MP DS had it, so it makes sense for MP 3DS to have it as well.

Not sure if they'll give this game online, but it would be awesome to have. Then we could all play it with each other and it could bring us all together!

After the game is released, if there's no online, of course the thread title will be changed, but if there is online, maybe this thread could be used as a way for people to ask others to play the game with them. Maybe it will have communities like MK7 & World Tour. What do you guys think?

I honestly think that Nintendo and ND Cube have no interest in making online multiplayer for the Mario Party series. They have had a few chances in the past with Mario Party 8, DS, and 9.

I don't really see how Party Mode would work with the boards and all. Players purposely disconnecting and players who want to just mess around like a primate will make the online experience less enjoyable.

Party Mode could be fun if you play a small amount of turns (such as 10 0r 15) with friends would work fine if you can trust them not disconnect or something. The min-game and mini-game mode would work the best even with strangers. Perhaps you could chat with friends before a game begins in something that involves teams.

It would be fun to have, it just needs a lot of work to be effective and enjoyable for all players.

I think it would be something really good to have online in a game like this, it would be more fun to interact with other players instead. Also, it would be a better gaming experience for this said game with this feature. But of course, local multiplayer will obviously be there, but I don't know for online, at least, I wish it would have online play.

Online would work better in this game than in MPDS since the games are going to be shorter.
They could even have posted time limits to help keep it up to speed as well.
This could work out!

...and Local Multiplayer should already be confirmed. :p
It's not a party without your friends, right? But with online play, then it can become an even bigger Mario Party! ;D
...even if it's just the boards or minigame modes only. :p

I like madstarr's idea. Playing boards with strangers for a long amount of time can get boring, but at least with friends, it could be interesting.

If there's online, I definitely hope playing mini-games would be available to anyone. Maybe an option for people to set online for just boards (with friends, strangers or both) or mini-games (with friends, strangers or both).

Really hard to say. But with this being on the Nintendo 3DS, there's really no excuse for this not to have online. The 3DS is capable of it. I'd understand if they couldn't for the board play, but at least do it for mini-games. Mini-Games involving AR probably will not be used for online.

If Fortune Street can have online, so can Mario Party.

I'm sure local multiplayer will be fine. But preferably BOTH download and wireless play. (No clue why the latter didn't exist in DS...)

Nintendo Network wise, it would just require syncing with the other clients, which COULD cause issues with reaction type minigames but otherwise I don't see any real issues, board or minigame. Agreed with AR minigames not likely to be playable online though. XD

Local Multiplayer will be always compatible with any Mario Party handheld game but online, Impossible! Just like what they did with Mario Party 9. Why should this game use the Nintendo Network services?

Maybe because the 3DS is more powerful than the Wii and the Nintendo server is more updated. To add on, I think Mario Party 9 was rushed and Nintendo was more focus on the car mode than anything else. In a game like this why not? Most people don't have people to play this with and having online will give more replay to the game.

I really hope so. If so, then they should incorporate online, even if they think Mario Party doesn't need online. ND Cube needs to take a page from Square Enix's Fortune Street. Lastly, don't just do it for Miiverse features, do it for actual game play, and mini-games. Mini-Games are a must for ND Cube to incorporate online in.
