Episode 107 - The Lost Levels

It's no surprise that the Wii U isn't living up to its expectations. People complain about its battery life, its game library, the GamePad feature, its lack of Third-Party Support, or its graphics. Other people even say that it's destined to fail the same way as the Virtual Boy did. But do The Lost Levels feel the same way? Listen in today to see how we feel the Wii U's current status is, hopes for the future of the Wii U, and whether or not its bad sales can be saved by future games like Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Brothers. Joining the podcast today we have Dark Boo as your host, along with co-hosts SpiderStaryu, SuperZambezi, and Toadette!

Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will help push Wii U sales a bit, but there won't be a large number of people who will buy them compared to Wii. Wii U's install base is really low (about six million now), so it won't help save the struggling console. There are more players on Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl because Wii has a very high install base of over 100 million.

So to the people who actually listened to the podcast, what are you thoughts on the Wii U being destined for failure?

I agree and I disagree, The Wii U can make a comeback but that solely depends on Nintendo actions to make better games and better advertisement. The whole reason the Wii U is doing bad now is because people couldn't differentiate the similarities between the Wii and Wii U mainly due to lack of advertisement. Plus there's was barely any solid games out during the launch for the Wii U and most games that were out didn't fully utilize the gamepad potential. If Nintendo can some how release game that can display the gamepad true ability and bring out more games like Metroid and Star Fox, without a doubt the Wii U will bring the beat back. Also Nintendo should also focus more on online cuz like it or not, it will boost sales and ninty needs it. But yeah, the Wii U isn't a Virtue Boy and I truly believe the Wii U will have a successful future.

Another thing about that (Which this topic will continue on the podcast) is that how long can Nintendo live up to those gaming names? I see other consoles doing that but then the people complain that the formula is being reused rampantly but then when the formula is new and such, there are a wholesome of errors with them. I don't think that Nintendo can live with some names for so long unless they use multiple iterations of the game for that seems to be doing the best for a lot of consoles, Assassin's Creed, GTA, and all other SERIES games.
