For me its sometimes cause I used to play in 3D all the time but then my eye started blinking for no reason so I stopped using it all the time

Nope, it drains the battery faster.
I always use the 3D when playing. If I really want to make the battery last before having to charge it, I'll turn it off, but I rarely do that.
Only when I feel like it, I think it works well in SFIV and OoT but not so much my other games
Almost always unless I'm not charging my 3DS.
Yeah, I don't really play it anywhere that isn't home, so if it starts dying I can always stick it in the charger.
I do not use the 3DS Feature because it makes you recharge the battery sooner.
