So, I played this as a kid. I loved it.. and I was the best in my area. I don't play it anymore, mostly because it's a child-oriented card game, and I've grown out of it.

and because there's nobody around that plays besides one kid, but I always beat him. Still, though, my first reason is my main reason.

I know how to play Pokemon. Hated playing energies as a kid, though. Then again, guess that's under Ryou's influence. He hated them, and I guess I took after him. Regardless, he still beat me, even without energies.

VIP. It's never to late to join in on the fun. Adults all around the world play. However, if you wanted to join a card game series, pick Magic. More teen-adult oriented. Also, if anyone tries to say, "You're playing a card game? Lame." "That's for kids." "You're retarded" "That's dumb."

I just reply:

"It's a hobby. Get over yourself."

Lol. I only had to say it once, and it was to a friend who was joking around.

Yu-Gi-Oh wasn't as big as Pokemon was at my school.  The only time I actually remember playing it for real was with this kid who lived across the driveway from my Nona's, back when I was 12 or something. He kept changing the rules every time I would be able to get a move over him, and eventually I went home because he was pissing me off. :p

i like the abridged series :D

I remember if someone had Exodia that kids would come drool at his awesomeness.

I wish it was like that in high school.

I've noticed a trend of trading card games from school to school.

Elementary was mostly Pokemon or Digimon.
Middle school was Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh.
High school is strictly Magic: The Gathering.

Pretty much every kid was addicted to this in Elementary school, but now I think the new thing is Bakugan.
In middle school, back when bakugan was still new and original, me and my friends played it but it was expensive and got too repetitive as long as you had a strategy. Yugioh however, required more strategy and it never seemed to get old.

I still play it. Me and some of my friends who are now freshmen (And I'm a junior) play it at the Youth Center (AKA, a rec center). It's really fun to make different decks by trading with a few friends who have the cards you need.

I'm hoping the school I'm going to starting this school year has an anime club with other people who play this game. Otherwise, the hobby will probably just die down. I mean, I could go to comic book stores and play random people but that's really just not fun.

I've put too much money in this game but I haven't bought many cards for a few months.
