Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games

But I love Lemmy and Iggy, they are the two most originals Koopalings in my opinion..  :(
I will change original to cutest to me. I think it would be a shame to drop my two top favorite Koopalings/characters and to make them separated for the first time. I'm still okay with Larry, but I really hope they aren't going to be restricted in the Wii U version as it is the one I am aiming to possibly get, however, I am not sure if I will get it just yet, I really need to know more.

Waiting intensely for the Wii U version instead.
Same.

We didn't get any information about the Wii U version lately, which is nice I guess, because that probably means that they are putting a lot of efforts and time in the development of the game.
Maybe each characters will be playable in every sports?
The 3DS version of this :ssb4mario: and :ssb4sonic: game seems like a pretty polished game from what I've seen. So this means they aren't rushing it.

THE FULL MAIN THEME IS REVEALED :D

I'm late to this post but WOW this is really good! Favorite M&S theme by far. That "Carnivale" feel really adds a lot of flavor.

In regards to the Wii U version of the game, it's been rumored that it is coming out in June.(and I have my fingers crossed so hard for this version turning out good you guys! ;P)

I'm still not thrilled that they only brought in the most popular Koopalings... but when you think about it, they've done the same with several of the Sonic groups already. Only the two most popular members of the Chaotix team made it in, same with the Babylon Rogues, and the Deadly Six.

Still, it's an impressive line-up in my opinion, and the music is already sounding on point. Just need to see solid content on Wii U now!

We got a new trailer, new images, and release date for the Wii U version!

The Wii U version of Rio 2016 Olympics will be released on Thursday, June 23, 2016 for Japan, Friday, June 24, 2016 for Europe and North America, and Saturday, June 25, 2016 for Australia. Luma Party should edit this in.

So here is a list of all the things that stood out to me as odd in the trailer plus what they might indicate.

-Toad and Boom Boom as part of Team Mario
It's not that they were seen in the background of an event or something where they could very well just be support members, they were on the podium with the other athletes and Toad's character flag is seen right behind Mario and Sonic. Toad is also spotted being treated similarly to Amy, Wendy, and Zazz in the Parade sequence. This implies that these two are now playable which would make this the first time the M&S rosters have diverged between console and handheld entries.

Furthermore, people have noted how some characters are missing that were playable in the 3DS game. Which has me wondering what other changes could be in store for us roster wise?

-That parade sequence
This trailer wasn't what we typically expect of the M&S intros as this one seems to have been made using in-game character models and locations as opposed to being fully cgi. However most of the scenes do use unique camera angles and added animation effects to create a more dramatic flair. The parade sequence doesn't do this however and actually neither does the opening pan of the athletes at the podium.

My thinking is that perhaps these two sequences are the beginning(podium) and ending(parade) of some kind of campaign mode. They just stand out to me as not having been altered where all the other sequences clearly have been.

-Dream events are like those in the 3DS version?
Towards the end of the trailer we get a glimpse of both a volleyballl match at night time and a soccer game that appears to be in the middle of  the street. In the volleyball match we can clearly see item boxes implying this is a dream event and with the soccer game the location to me implies it must also be a Dream event. However both events seem to still be set in Rio. Does this mean we are no longer venturing into the Mario and Sonic universes for dream event locations? The 3DS version already doesn't so could the Wii U version follow suit?

So to summarize, to me it looks like we have reason to believe we are getting a unique roster thanks to Toad and Boom Boom, possibly a campaign mode of some kind because of that Parade sequence, and also we may not have the kind of Dream Event locations we have come to expect based on how the two events shown seem set in Rio.

That bit of speculation about Dream Event locations is going to bother quite a few people if it turns out accurate. Sure the Dream Events might be solid gameplay-wise but a large portion of the fun is seeing videogame locations reimagined to host these things.

can't wait for the event where you bribe the ioc with coins and/or rings.

Know it's a bit late, but it's funny you mention this now that the Panama Papers got released. Uh oh, busted!

And I've been trying to get into this series but I've always found the events to be too easy and not enjoyable to play. I only had the London edition for my 3DS.

This is apropos of nothing aside from the knowledge that this series has a habit of producing legendary remixes out of some of the more obscure Mario tunes, but this game NEEDS to revive and remaster this classic:

It would be perfect for the Rio setting.
