Flu Has 'Pandemic Potential'

Some influenza experts expressed concern Saturday that a new, deadly hybrid strain of swine flu may spark a pandemic. The virus has killed at least 62 people in Mexico and sickened eight in the U.S. Here, people wear surgical masks Friday as they stand in line to enter a hospital in Mexico City.

Ouch. I hope we don't get too many visitors from Mexico.

The U.S. declares a public health emergency as tests confirm that eight students at a private New York City school contracted swine flu. Some students had recently gone to Mexico, where 86 people have been killed by the virus. Health officials say there are 20 cases in five states -- and they expect more.

This is terrible. It'd be worse if they reach to your general area.

All of these deaths are in Mexico but I don't like how it's spreading. So far, my State is fine.

The WHO are concerned that if this does become a pandemic, it will kill a million or so people (I think).

I have been following this story and its definetly something to look out for. There havent been and deaths in the US but Mexico has had quite a few. Lets hope things get better  :-\

4 cases are seen in Greater Toronto Area, from people recently returned from Mexico.

The Death in United States came from Mexico so it's not really a United States one.

We're the US. It's not gonna affect us as much as it would affect places like mexico or africa. Plus we'll find a cure for it.

Oh dear over 40 Unconfirmed cases in my State. 7 in Kane County. I hope my school doesn't get closed on this.

We have 4 confirmed cases and i think 40 in testing. I think the media is making this into much bigger of a problem than what it really is. The normal flu is just as bad.
