Here's the video that you might want to check out.

ALERT! Bill S.978 Will SHUT DOWN Gaming Videos and Streams EVERYWHERE

If this law gets passed, any copyrighted material wouldn't be allowed on the internet. This includes music, TV Shows, Movies, and as it's currently worded now, video games. This would completely kill the gaming industry if you couldn't watch any footage of a game that you're considering buying.

Discuss.

Wow, I totally agree with him. We won't be able to see game play of games, LPs of games, listen to music anything like that anymore if it does pass. A lot of businesses he mentioned will lose a lot of money, like trillions. It's not fair if you can's know about a game you want to know more of. It's what he said, ridiculous.

Ok a little research later I realize that sites like IGN actually wouldn't get ruined by this. I don't wanna get into the details of it but basically it's just making something that's already illegal illegal now. Go figure.

I mean sites like Netflix and IGN will still get permission from companies to display their products and all that jazz I think. I didn't watch the video posted here but yeah basically posting video game content or movie content is already illegal. They just wanna further push for it now. But some companies, mainly video game companies, support user uploaded YouTube videos. I mean some videos games allow you to directly upload videos (PS3 only if I'm right) from the game to YouTube so why would they be against this. If this were to get passed I don't see why their stance would change.

Its not reasonably enforceable so it doesn't matter if it passes.
Yeah a lot of companies actually like users uploading videos of their content (minus the emulators probably) for the exposure.
Yeah. I actually think that Emulator videos should be removed since they are illegal. But normal playthroughs shouldn't be taken down because of the good publicity it brings. There are so many games that wouldn't have become popular without the help of the internet.

Don't companies know that increased attention via YouTube/other video sites equals more profit? Idiots.
