Why did Mario Party have 8 Boards?

My thoughts exactly.

I'm not sure how else the 8 boards would've came to be. But it still puzzles me why they decided to never do 7 or more boards in another Mario Party game.
 
Actually, a lot of Mario Parties have more than six boards:

Mario Party 2: 7 if you count Mini-game Stadium.
Mario Party 3: 12 including the duel boards.
Mario Party 4: 8 with the mega and mini boards.
Mario Party 5: 7 normal boards.
Mario Party 6: 9 counting the single player boards.
