The N64 Mario Party Games are too much overrated.

Do you think N64 Games are Overrated?

They are stating it like they are facts.

The MP franchise stopped being good after the first 3 N64 games, because every single game suffers the "Pokemon Syndrome", or rather, doesn't change the gameplay at all and instead uses stale and repetitive minigame ideas while at the same time the boards constantly lack appeal and enjoyable movements.

Oh, so I guess stating that the new MP gameplay sucks compared to the N64 days means that it's totally nostalgia related and therefore I do not have a valid opinion. You're an even bigger idiot than Topper, I'm just saying. I'm not trying to be a bully, I'm merely stating that you are an idiot if you think that logic is hardly argumentative. No way am I stating it like they are facts. I'm merely just putting my own two cents out. That's all. If you got a problem with that, fine, but don't make me out to be some fool who doesn't know what he's talking about.

Now, on to Topper:

3 examples is not enough to convince me. I've never even played those games.

>Tomb Raider
>Final Fantasy
>Resident Evil
>Goldeneye's Sequels
>Duke Nukem
>Grand Theft Auto

Some more for you. If you haven't played any of these franchises, then my time is wasted on you. But if you truly haven't played any of these games then you honestly can't say that your argument here is valid, because you haven't experienced it. Like I said, once you mature and grow older, you will realize that the games you love now will always have a place in your heart compared to the crappy games that get churned out for money rather than creativity. It happens to all of us. *grabs cane and shakes it*

That's the critics' opinions. I make my own decisions, critics take games too seriously for me

So I shouldn't trust G4, Attack of the Show, IGN, GameSpot, GamePro, Famitsu, and other professional review companies that have been around for nearly a decade now? Ok then. I won't take all of their hard-work and experience playing the actual damn game for granted.

Stop being mean to people who disagree with you. Calling others idiots makes you a bully

Truth hurts sometimes.

Please top calling people idiots. You're hostility is very unpleasant tbh.

And there's not really a way to determine whether or not you were being "nostalgic" and if I was being presumptuous then I apologize.
But it doesn't help when you include overly emphasized things like

Just because a game is old and people have a strong nostalgic feeling for it doesn't mean it's worst than the shovelware/crapware s*** they are releasing these days. When you grow older, you probably will understand that these games have a solid value in our hearts, and for developers such as the examples above to basically castrate them by replacing SOLID gameplay that nobody complained about to a s***ty new way of playing the game that everybody hates is somewhat of a HUGE problem.

this post clearly shows this person is a complete idiot
and
IF IT AIN'T BROKEN DON'T FIX IT.

And yes, your attitude and tone honestly suggest that your were stating your 2 cents like they were facts. At least it seemed like that.  :what:

If you don't like my tone, fine, but these are just my opinions. I ain't trying to force them, sorry to say.

I agree. It makes me sad to see how underappreciated the newer Mario Parties are.

.....Especially since they really aren't underappreciated at all.

They pretty much are. Expect 5 imo.
I've seen 6 and 4 get tons of praise as well, same with 9. It just seems 7 and 8 aren't really loved, and I'm not a big fan of 7 or 8, so yeah.

Well that's nothing compared to the N64 praise.

Like most of the other members here I don't see how the 64 games are overrated. They like them more because they have prescious memerioes of that game. I love Tomb Raider and Crash Bandicoot because I had a blast playing them when I was younger. I only started playing the 64 MP games a year or two ago and I love them more because they have better gameplay.

For me it isn't the memory factor, I just think that the N64 ones are better overall (not that the newer ones are bad, they're not I play all of them all the time, except 8) and you can't really just say people like a game only due to a nostalgia factor, I'm sure they play those and say they're good, because they feel they're good, not just because they like the nostalgia feeling it brings.

I give it an 8/10 purely for nostalgia factor. Honestly, I don't remember much about MP1.. haven't played in ages. I remember Mario's Rainbow Castle/Quite a few of the mini-games tho. I loved the one player Koopa shell mini-game/the bicycle Boo mini-game that gave me blisters :p.

I never said it does.

People who argue that these old games get praised solely because of nostalgic value are too retarded to come up with a better argument as to why these games are praised as much as they are. They probably are just mere fanboys who do not like the game itself and therefore just say "Nostalgia is evil. It doesn't make a game." just so they think they made a justified argument. It's sad really.

Its not just the critics opinion if you read it he said fans and critics. Even if it is the critics opinion they are right. You cant take a popular series then give it crappy gameplay and expect people to like it. Thats what happens to series that have a numerous amount of games under its belt.

Take the Sonic games for example the older ones were GREAT till up to Sonic 06 where everything crashed down. In most cases the older games are the better ones. Nostalgia may play a role but what we liked from those old games were its gameplay.
Just want to bring up some of these excellent points Plum made. A big reason why I liked the old games such as MP3, was cuz of it's gameplay.

I just don't understand how people can hate a game just cuz others like it. That is the most farfetch'd feeling I have ever seen. =P
