Release date Summer 2013

New Super Luigi U is an upcoming expansion pack to the Wii U title New Super Mario Bros. U, celebrating The Year of Luigi. The title was announced during the February 14th Nintendo Direct by Satoru Iwata and was be released on the Summer of 2013. As the name implies, Luigi is the only playable character in the game. Features like Multiplayer, Challenge Mode, and Boost Rush are not available.

The title can only be downloaded by accessing the Wii U e-Shop via an Internet connection, and having a copy of New Super Mario Bros. U. Once downloaded, the player must press a certain button on the file select screen to play.

The gameplay is largely similar to its base game, except that Luigi retains his higher jump and traction from Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels. The game itself is also made harder, and every course starts at one-hundred seconds. Elements like Star Coins are retained.

The world map itself is unchanged from New Super Mario Bros. U, though it is unconfirmed if the level names, bosses, Enemy Courses or Toad Houses are changed.

I'm pretty much going for the retail version (disc). I know it costs more, but I prefer physical copies more. Also, Nintendo was smart enough to give us a green case, rather the regular blue.
