Maka Wuhu glitch

I don't do it and I see it happening online every time the course is selected (and it always seems to be a bunch of Metal Marios doing it).

However, this morning I ran into a group of five Metal Marios that each picked Maka Wuhu and all tried the shortcut. The course was picked again for the next race I stayed behind them all. When we got to the shortcut ditch, I stayed over be the item boxes and started spamming them with lightning bolts, red shells, and finally a star. This only temporarily stopped them but they eventually all got their way. And I got last place. :p Needless to say, I had enough. :p

It just to show that they care about winning all the time. They hate losing, as well. They're not even being legitimate players.

Nintendo Has No Plans to Fix Mario Kart 7's Maka Wuhu Glitch

So keep on droppin'

If you've played Mario Kart 7 online, chances are you've encountered the Maka Wuhu glitch that allows devious racers to bypass a huge section of the course. Nintendo knows about it too, but will it do anything to address it?

Stick Twiddlers emailed Nintendo of America about the issue and got this response:

"Thanks for your patience in waiting for a response during this busy time of year. We are aware that it is possible to navigate a certain part of the track in Wuhu Island in a way that allows a large part of the course to be bypassed. There are no plans to update the game to remove this shortcut as doing so would create an unfair advantage for the users of the original release of the game. Rest assured your comments have been added to our records for Mario Kart 7."

Do you want to see the glitch patched or have you learnt to live with it?

Oh well, I think this is slightly stupid. No plans to fix this annoying glitch that is constantly being exploited all the time for Mario Kart 7 online. Nintendo released a patch to fix the Skyward Sword glitch, but not this? And it's unfair for gamers who got the original release?

They did say that there are no "plans". That's not exactly stating that they won't do it, it's just not planned. I think their reasoning has something to do with time trials. If they did patch it (considering that they'll have future copies of the game patched), those who have the new pre-patched game will be unable to ever defeat the ghost of someone who has used the glitch before the patch. Unfairness kicks in right there I guess. My suggestion is that they just remove the track from online all together. It's possible to do like how they do with the other systems. Don't allow them access to online play unless they update their game with the patch.

Another reasoning (which I hope isn't the case but most likely is) is that the game isn't capable of being patched somehow, and patching future copies of the game sold will leave those who have the patched game unable to perform the glitch, and leave the ones with the original game w/o the patch able to perform the glitch, thus the unfairness kicks in.

Who else hates it? I tried it out once in time trials but it made me feel like a cheater. I just hate it when you want a fair race online and all of a sudden everyone does the glitch and you're in last. It doesn't help either that all these dorks online spam Maka Wuhu as their course. Only one have I been able to catch up to a cheater, but only because they kept screwing up trying to do the glitch and I had a lightning.
P.S I like to litter the ground near the place you have to do the glitch so those little cheaters fall off  ;)

It's annoying but it's not exactly cheating if anyone can do it. I'd wish to race this course to its entirety online, but that's an unfortunate no. I use it only if i see most people using it (which is like every time) I think I may have completely forgotten what the entire 2nd section was like. o_O I can't remember the last time I actually went through it online without troll interference.

Played Maka Wuhu today. Got first place. It felt so good. :p

I can proudly say that I never used the glitch. Anyone else?  ;D
Just played it - came last due to a blue spiny shell  :what:

I am already done with this - I'm going back to Mario Kart Wii :p
Played that earlier today and it was great!
I get hit by more Blue Shells on MKW than 7 to be honest.
