Holes

I remember reading this book at school. It's where teenagers who have committed crimes are sent to a form of prison where they have to dig holes for hours on end every day with little food or water. They also have to beware of the deadly lizards.

Has anyone else read this?

I read this book last year for class. It was pretty good, I remember I borrowed it from our class and I stayed up all night reading it until I got to the end.

I remember reading this in eighth grade, having to pick a book that a small group could read, and there just enough for it. The book is actually really good, and the movie did a good adaptation on it, though Shia LaBeouf was a lot skinnier than the Stanley in the book.

I thought that too but in the Extras of the film someone had stated that it would be hard for them to get an overweight person to do the role as they would have to make them skinnier at the end.

I found it a good book, just not quite my type of book.

I almost had to read this one in sixth, but the class spoke and we read Hoot (which is by the same guy) instead. I don't think I can stomach reading another book with suicide in it after accidentally seeing that scene in the movie.

Yup, I read the book and watched the movie when it came out. I always liked it, but I'd have to watch it or read it again to see if it actually holds up.

Also, after I watched Alien and Aliens last year, it kind of blew my mind when I found out Sigourney Weaver played the Warden.
