Final Smashes

What did you think about the final smashes and what is your favorite(s)?

Well I think they are cheap since some are unavoidable and they are just an easy way to rack up KOs. I really like Link/Toon Link's Final Smash and Ike's since they have the best effects out of the other smashes and the KO ratio is high.

I love the Final Smashes, and they're what made me get into the series more, since they made things more interesting and could really shake up the battle. I've practiced lots on trying to get it, which is why, when I battle people on wi-fi (like VIP, MLYW, etc.) it's so easy for me to get the final smash and use it, that's why it payed for me to practice huge amounts. :p Sometimes it's good to turn them off for a legit fun battle, but it's usually more fun with final smashes.

My favorite final smashes depend on my moods, sometimes I like final smashes that are close-range, so I can get some guaranteed damage at someone who's pissing me off or there in first. When it's not close ranged, it's normally to cause damage to everyone, since I can get more damage in.

Hey guys, if you're having trouble dodging final smashes (or minimizing damage from them) you can watch these videos. They're very helpful.

Anyways, sometimes i played with the Smash Ball only, other times I didnt. I found Pikachu`s final smash hard to dodge and Sonic`s was hard to dodge. Even after watching these videos. For Olimar`s final smash, just keep on sidestepping constantly. Remember, rolling dodges arent the only way to dodge. For Kirby, you have to sidestep constantly and hope that you won`t get caught.
EDIT: I DO NOT own these videos nor did I make them.

I hate some of them and I hate some of them.

Those I like: Jigglypuff, DK, Ike, Marth, Link and Toon Link.

Those I don't really like: Wolf/Fox/Falco, Samus, Mario, Luigi...

Those that I like it's becuz they are more of a challenge, you have to know how to use them and etc. Those that I don't like it's becuz you only touch the button and the work is like done, not like DK that you need a good timing.

Final Smashes are stupid and anybody who uses them can go fall into a hole filled with spikes.

I hate a lot of things about Final Smashes. First of all, some are just plain cheap (Sonic >.>). I also hate that once a smash ball appears you have to focus more on getting it rather than actually fighting. When someone gets a smash ball you need to focus on running away or avoiding it rather than fighting. It completely ruins the pace for me.

I totally agree with you. Their final smashes are speedy and insanely hard to dodge. However, it depends on how well the person/CPU can control their final smashes. Yoshi's was similar to theirs, but it's much more controllable and much easier to dodge. Meta Knight's can be hard to dodge, as it hits everyone, including those not in the cape.(Well you can't do anything if you get caught under his cape. Sidestep dodges are CRAZY USEFUL for MOST final smashes)

Yeah, but Yoshi's controls are sluggish.

I think they'd be better if they just gave you a speed and power up like wario's final smash. I just really don't like the 1-hit K.O moves.
I hate how some characters have the same or pretty much the same final smash in effect

*Fox/Falco/Wolf
*Samus/Mario
*Ike/Marth/Link/Toon Link/Many other characters
*Pikachu/Sonic

I'm alright with characters' whose move is completely unique.

*Luigi
*Jigglypuff
*Kirby
*Mr. Game and Watch
*Donkey Kong
*Diddy Kong

How can Ike and Marth have the same Final Smash? Ike's is short-range, and unless you're G&W or at 80% you still stay alive, I've found. Marth, if you're a ground attacker, is death. If you're in the air, it's really easy to dodge. Diddy Kong is just about the same as Sonic and Oikachu, except with wlong-range advantages. Kirby and Meta Knight's are almost the same, and Kirby's is also extremely cheap. Luigi and Jigglypuff are also quite similar, as they take up a large circle, which can prove advantageous if they get hit, but if not, then you're stuffed. Game and Watch is also way too cheap, it's almost impossible to avoid unless you have extreme skill. dK is also rather similar to Luigi's and Jigglypuff's. I have shown evidence that most of your statement was a lie. jkjkjk

Ike and Marth both are instant-kills (usually.) Diddy kong has different controls and has projectiles. Kirby and Meta Knight's are nothing alike. Kirby's results in items spawning but meta knight's is short range and sometimes kills. Luigi's halts your movement but Jigglypuff's makes it grow bigger (Oh that doesn't sound right) and does a lot of damage. I agree that G&W is cheap. Dk's moves have different mechanics.

LOL at above. Don't lose the Smash Ball in the process... =P

FSes are designed to be cheap, in order to make the game more accessible to others. =P Or so we assume.

I tend to prefer hit-or-miss ones and some transformation ones...

Let me go through each character's as relevant (combining those with similar FSs):
Mario: Big deal, stay above/under/behind the Finale... =P
Luigi: This is a tactical one that I don't mind, but it's useless outside the negative radius (I think...)
Peach: The putting others to sleep doesn't work half the time =P And with Peach as a defensive character, the option to eat or beat (up) is rather lousy...
Bowser: OK, but unwieldy.
DK: Useless outside a certain radius, but pretty funky otherwise...
Diddy: I don't recall whether this was true or relative flight control, but not my favorite transformation - it's tough to angle the popguns.
Yoshi: Decent, but the single fireballs get cheap. =P
Wario: Alright except for the rocket-speed Wario Bike. I love the aerial rave ability Wario has as Wario-Man.
Link/Toon Link: Dislike it a little since the opponent only needs to be in line...
Zelda/Sheik: Similar to Triforce Slash, 'cept it's more useful with the linear multihit
Ganondorf: Awe-inspiring but much disliked. It doesn't even qualify as a transformation... =P
Samus: Rarely used it, and like Mario Finale, can be evaded. The angling doesn't help it too much...
ZSS: Almost useless (especially as I prefer ZSS over Samus), but get in your opponent's face and it does... something.
Pit: If more Centurions were employed/they were tougher than they are, this would be broken =P
Ice Climbers: Apart from making the stage unbearably obscured and the freezing, didn't like this.
ROB: This is just a burst ability of active Diffusion Lasers. Nothing special... if it weren't for the fact that ROB becomes impossible to pressure in rush battles or long range >_>
Kirby: Silly, and ineffective sans items.
Meta Knight: Decent, but the cape having only narrow horizontal reach is annoying.
Dedede: Silly but at least better than Kirby's >_> The occasional Gordo is good but rarely is effective except when the foe is caught in the army
Olimar: Boring, but definitely throws people off without a frame of reference for the stage
Fox/Falco/Wolf: Fun to use but only the barrel roll and Landmaster landing (or crashing =P) are effective for me.
Cpt Falcon: Cinematics =/= Smash Bros. And the hit/miss here is HORRIBLE.
Pikachu: Unwieldy but ignores stage barriers. Note that Pika will oscillate around a fixed point if you don't move it (Ctrl Stick or other motion input).
PKMN Trainer: Again, dodge behind. The three angle does make it better than Finale or Zero Laser...
Lucario: Better than Zero Laser since it's from above. And I have to try Snowy's hissatsu skill =P
Jigglypuff: Useless in large stages, but funny and does damage just as Jiggly deflates. That is, if anyone's near >_>
Marth: The ultimate hit or miss =P OK, but not stage friendly at all.
Ike: Perhaps my fave. The range is appropriate and the animation is Ike worthy.
Ness/Lucas: Apart from the angles at which the Starstorm emerges from, much the same, and rather effective in many types of stages, since a single meteor can do a lot on its own (and you often only get hit by a few)
G+W: Apart from the suicide danger and platform blockage, alright.
Sonic: I'll show you!! =P Too fast IMO, but definitely cheap if used at an opportune moment. Thankfully he's blocked by the stage...
Snake: My second fave. Aim and shoot tactically. So much better then watching other fall asleep and decide what to do next. =P

My verdict: FSes were OP and a mechanic that many serious Smashers would have disliked. At least they can *mostly* be turned off. (Damn Pity FSes, those guys at Sora, what are you thinking not having a flag switch for that?! >;()

Ike and Marth both are instant-kills (usually.)

Wrongo.

Ike does multiple hits and very rarely kills the victim in one combo if they are at 40% or less.
Marth is an instant kill.

Only time I've ever gotten someone to die with 0% was because he got blocked by part of the stage I think. :p
