Electrifying Gallery (v 2.0)

I wasn't sure whether to ask for a revival or make a whole new topic. After a while, I thought that starting fresh was the way to go. So, this might be my new art topic.

For any old artwork, please refer to my old topic: Here
or my Deviantart: Here

Now, a couple of last pieces:

This first one from the 2015 batch is a post workout portrait, in some way at least.

I thought I needed to work on face expressions and actually giving a personality to this character who I've been working on since 2012. Doing redesigns and stuff and I feel like I'm getting close to what I actually want. Next step might be coloring and him actually djing or something.

These are two ideas I've had for a while, one is kind of based of Zero Suit Samus, while the other one is more fantasy inspired.

Now this one might be my favorite design so far from the last couple of drawings. It is in some way inspired by a friend of mine, but also some other models I've found on the web and fashion inspired. I would definitely love to rework on this character soon and add colors and more personality. Now, since it's one of my favorites, I feel like adding some kind of background to juice it up.

He has no name yet, so you might know him as FX for now. What does FX stand for? It isn't yet known, but it's his codename. Many interests include photography (obviously), but also music and yoga. He can play some piano music pieces. Instrumental and ambient tracks are some of his favorite genre of music. Photography has been his main talent though. Anytime he can get a shot, he will go for it. He's a dreamer, loves adventure, discovering new cultures and meeting new people. He's slightly reserved and can be a bit cold at times. It's part of his nature, but once you become friend with him, you just know you'll have a good time. His best friend is DJ. He's also looking for that one love, he hasn't been the most successful, but eventually it might come, who knows. He's in his late 18, about to be 19. Finally, he likes to take care of his looks. He isn't crazy about fashion, but he does know how to dress well.

Oh hey you made your topic again sweet
I love the sense of humanity that you've given these designs, it really makes a viewer feel that human element behind characters
Also really happy to see how you've come since the early days; never stop improving!

There are still a few issues in terms of the anatomy but I'll probably post another message later with some red lining for areas that I feel need tweaking

@HJ: Yeah, the more I observe them, the more I find some things that kind of bug me, or that I would've done differently.
I might leave my DJ design alone for now. I kind of want to work more on my other designs. (Fairy, FX, Zamus and the native woman (which I have a little something almost ready).

@M4E: There's always a start for anything! All I can say is that if you want to improve, draw a lot! (That's what one of my teachers used to say haha). Also, depending on your style, you can always get inspired by other people's work.

Hey Spirit, like I promised, here's some redlining and thoughts from my view on tweaking these images up. Common themes include necks and wrists, as well as uneven eyes when checking the true planes of the head vs eyes.
Note that I am not perfect and that these are simply my suggestions based on personal experience. (Heck, I see an error in my redline at the pants/legs for 2014 DJ full body!)

If you have further questions/inquiries, I'm more than happy to answer!

Some new stuff coming your way. I haven't done anything in the past 5 days or so actually. I was just kind of lazy and since I should be restarting college soon, I might not have many more for a while. So, I'll probably do some more tomorrow, but that depends.

This is kind of new, but actually retakes an old design of mine. I don't think I have posted the old design anywhere and it's not on my Deviantart. The first one was done in a little collection of 2 characters (the other one was a surfer, which I might retake soon). For now, she might be called Woman of Fire. As you can see, she's dancing and that dance is creating a fire. What secrets might she have? Well... IDK. Also, note the wing on her right arm (left one).

A first friendly drawing of DJ and FX. FX has his beanie on like most of the time, while DJ gets a hoodie back (when was the last time he had one in one of my drawings? He should probably get more clothes on hehe *wink*).
30vjiuh.jpg

Now, this one is something else. It's a much bigger drawing and I might do more with this in the future. So it's not totally finished (and it's noticeable in FX's eyes). You've got DJ on the left and FX on the right. I have probably reached the point where I have set an age and body type for both of these guys. I might describe FX a little more on the next spoiler, for now, something brief about DJ.

Since I first introduced DJ back in 2012, I have called him DJ Spirit. Now, this is old story. Since I kind of want to make him slightly more unique, with a better backstory and an actual name, I've had my moments of reflections. You might know him as DJ Colyton or simply Colyton now. He chose his professional name once he got 20. Colyton is simply his real name modified. To be exact, his real name is Colton Devins. Even though his name isn't really Hispanic, he is of Hispanic and latin descent. He is currently 20 years old. You can still call him DJ Spirit, afterall a dj can goes through several aliases in a lifetime, but officially, it's Colyton.

Why Colyton though? As a name, it doesn't mean much, but it has another meaning to me. It kind of reminds me of another era, an era that is now long gone. That word, that name brings me back to that time. A time before anything that was, isn't anymore. It's now time to fight back and reveal the next big step. A fighter just fits perfectly!

You might notice something else too. Where are the headphones gone? Well, it's still part of the design, I just haven't come around to drawing them again, yet. Though, know that the more he uses the power of the headphones, the more he absorbs of that power. The headphones create energy and destructive sound waves. Depending on the intensity, it could be dangerous for anyone, even him. He must have control over that power. If he absorbs too much of it at the same time, it could result in death.

This is a first face expression for FX, now officially Anthony Xavier. He is younger than Colyton, late 19 to be exact. He isn't wearing a beanie and I must say I had a lot of fun designing his hair. I actually like it and feel like it fits his personality. Unlike Colyton, he's more reserved. He doesn't have powers like him, but he has something else. That is loyalty, he has a heart and will help in anyway he can in Colton's quests. Anthony is really supportive and to him, Colton is like a brother. Their friendship is really strong. No wonder why I came with some first ''bromance'' concepts.

Still experimenting with the women designs. I will eventually explore more with her and the other designs. Also, different gun, note it. She has a lot more in her arsenal. ;)

The image isn't really clear. This is a request from a friend, but unfortunately, I think I might have to turn it down. It's basically 3 hands drawing each other. This is way more realistic than the usual and I don't think I'm ready to give it that aspect. It's a lot of work.
21mugj6.jpg

I don't know if the word portrait is right, but I'll go with that. I really wanted to experiment something different. I mean, it's still a human, but it's not my usual human drawing. Now, I know I said I didn't want to go with the realistic stuff, but in here, I'm ironically looking for something more realistic. The thing is, the three hands concept is complicated and I don't have as much interest like in the beginning (when I accepted the request...). So anyways, this is inspired by some pic and the emotions I got from the reference are truly what made me want to do it, unlike the hands.
I want to color it, but I want to try it digitally before I try it with graphite pencils.

For the future:
I want to do more and I have a couple of ideas for future drawings. Other than finishing the portrait and coloring some of these already posted drawings, I want to explore even more poses. For the male models and female models I have up. I also want to try different styles, I want to go with different cartoony styles and see how I like it. Mature and for the younger audience cartoon styles. Also, other than the styles and poses, it's the interaction between the characters. Note that Colyton, Anthony and Zamus are all part of the same universe, while the Woman of Fire, the ''Great Fairy'' and the surfer I mentioned are most likely from another universe. I could make one whole universe, but for now, I want to use those two world's to make the interactions.

I also want to explore more into creatures, mutations and animals. So expect some non-humans drawings.

Hopefully, college doesn't keep me way too busy and I can still make some more later...

Really, the more you practice drawing, the better you get. If you compare these drawings from the ones I made last year, the year before and so on, there should be an amelioration. A small one or a bigger one. lol

I guess your right. Did you see my Drawings that I posted? That's what I can do :p yours looks way better lol
Haha yeah I did. Just keep drawing, there's a start for everything.
