Diary of Anne Frank

I never read it nor do I care to.

Holocaust readings depress me too much to the point where I start to think about humanity's savagery.

You have no idea how hilarious Dark Boo's and Daisy_Kisargi's comments are, by proving my theory on the human condition :p

Anyways I read this book in 4th grade. I don't paticularly remember it besides a plot summary which everyone knew was going to happen since it was a true story. I think we read it next year in 11th grade honors lit. But if not I might read it again for fun I guess.

That's not good

How could the rest of Europe possibly let the Holocaust happen? It happened in the heart of Europe. And it was in the 40's, it's not like the 16th or 17th centuries. There were already TVs in many households, and radios were widespread. Other nations could've stopped Hitler easily while the Holocaust was still in its infancy stages. More importantly, how could the Germans let the Holocaust happen? If I found out that I lived near a slaughterhouse where my next-door neighbors were tortured and cremated recently, I'd be pretty darn pissed

Hitler pulled them  out of the fire financially iirc and they probably gave leeway to him even following the brainwashing of youth.

It was a lot more than that.

And it wasn't just Hitler who brought them out of the Weimar Disaster.

It was basically the League of Nations saying, "Oh shit. Better give this guy what he wants before another war starts!!!11"

Great idea.

This is what happens when socialism and nationalism combine.

Anyways, I find it a great read. I would go mad being in one place for so long and not being able to make noise during the day.

Nice stereotype.

I didn't actually read the book, I read the play, but personally I thought Night was a great book on the Holocaust. A book I read called Daniel's Story was pretty good too, although not a true story. I remember it disturbed the shit out of me though because in one part he describes how the Nazis went into the ghetto hospital and were throwing the babies out the window.

Europe was trying to rebuild itself after WW1. They really didn't care about what was happening. Germany itself was thankful for Hitler because he gave them a sense of pride and a scapegoat to blame for them losing WW1. Also it was a really well kept secret until the US got there. No one really knew what was going on until it was too late.

Good book by the way. I read it in 8th grade.
