Pokemon: Nicknames

So do you nickname your Pokemon? I nickname them if I think of something clever. I usually name them based on a random anime Character.

No, almost never. I just like to stay with the original names. But I could if yoshi15 has some suggestions.

I think I used to a bit when I first played Pokemon, but stopped shortly after that.

Well, for flareon, I named it Amatarasu which is Japanese for the goddess of the sun. I got the name from a Naruto move.

For Espeon, I named it Tsukuyomi which is Japanese for the god of the moon. I also got this name from Naruto.

I name some pokemon after the 7 sins/Homunculus from Fullmetal Alchemist based on their characteristics.
*Pride
*Greed
*Sloth
*Wrath
*Envy
*Lust
*Gluttony

Those are some of my nicknames.

For the first runs (when I don't have the pokemon names memorized) I will leave them the same, but after I know the names I nickname every one that I catch just for some lulz. Ghastly = Purp Urk is some guaranteed laughs.... unless you don't get it, which I don't blame you.

No, instinctively i just don't do it. I mean, i'd have to think up one awesome name before i did but that never happened before.

My nicknames just vary on what I think of the Pokemon, if a Pokemon reminds me of something else, I'll just call it that. Sometimes it's Bust a Groove names, etc.

I nickname them if I plan on having them in my final team.

Occasionally. Mainly I come up with a name that corresponds to what I did recently. Say I'd written a story and the main character was called Sytheco, and I caught a Scyther, I'd name it Sytheco.

And my B/W team will probably be based on Okami gods i.e. Smugleaf=Sakigami, Tepig=Moegami, Oshawott=Nuregami, Blitzle=Gekigami, Vanillish=Itegami, etc.

Nah, I've never nicknamed them. To me, it's a waste of time.
