White Basic Wii U (8GB) Not Being Recalled
« on: June 05, 2013, 04:55:42 AM »
According to Kotaku, the White Basic Wii U (8GB) will be recalled. Nintendo sent an email to retailers saying to recall the Basic model of Wii U. Although it's a rumor for now, there seems to be more evidence that it may come out true.

Wow. It seems that the White Wii U Basic model (8GB) may soon be a thing of the past. Makes sense since not a lot of people are finding much value than what the Deluxe model offers. We will probably find out more in the upcoming Nintendo Direct. Could also mean a new bundle may come along the way.

EDIT: Nintendo of United Kingdom has not said anything about this rumor, but they did say that they will continue to sell the White Basic Wii U (8GB).

EDIT 2: CNET said that GameStop has confirmed that they will be recalling the White Wii U Basic Set (8GB). Why, they do not know.

EDIT 3: Nintendo has confirmed to IGN that consumers will still be able to find the basic Wii U (8GB) in stores even after Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

There is a current misperception about Wii U hardware. To clarify: Nintendo is working with its retail partners to simply rebalance the stock of the White 8GB and the Black 32GB Wii U models in the market. Consumers looking for either model will continue to find them available.

So the Wii U Basic Set (8GB will not be recalled after all.
