The alt colors of Mario Tennis 64
« on: August 07, 2012 »

Some are quite interesting aren't they?

Some look like they could have been inspiration for future characters:
Light Blue Peach: Possibly Rosalina
Yellow Toad: The Yellow Toad in the NSMB series and in the Toad Brigade
Blue Bowser: Shadow Bowser
Pink Boo: The Pink Boos in the Mario Party series

I wish it was easier to play as them like in Golf, but it is still kind of interesting to see some alternate colors.

Some of these alternates were used at later times. :Y

Namely DK, Bowser, Mario, and Wario (somewhat) as alternate colors in the Super Smash Bros. series (although Fire Mario palette is obvious...).

I like how Paratroopa actually becomes a green one. That is probably one of the only times you can see a green Paratroopa outside of the main games.

Also, what I don't like, is how characters like Toad, Birdo, Shy Guy, and Yoshi can have waaaaay too many options for alternate colors (according to their palette swaps from previous games). But instead they choose some of the most random and bland/peculiar ones.

Oh, and Baby Fire Mario is either lazy or pretty cool. :Y

Those are awesome! I think Peach's and Waluigi's look the best.

Never seen these before. Probably beta, I take it?

Orange Yoshi with blue shoes would have been fun to play as, but alas, it's not even in future installments.

They were used in a mode where it was always a tiebreaker and only players could play in it (2 players - single, 4 players - double)

Played as Baby Mario against a Baby Mario so I could purposefully be Fire Baby Mario! ;D
Awesomeness...
