This game has already gone really popular in Japan, as expected.

Furthermore, there's a chance of this game being localized.

Cobalt Blue 3DS, yes, but that's in Japan so far. Nothing for Europe or North America yet.

It probably won't be ported because a very small market in NA buys Fire Emblem.

Rev up those emulators/flash carts!

Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn sold really well in the NA market. I do not see the problem with localizing.

Quadruple post? No one interested in this anymore? Huge update coming up. Nintendo of America released more information.

Quote from: My Nintendo News
Nintendo of America has revealed new information about Fire Emblem Awakening, launching exclusively for Nintendo 3DS on Feb. 4. The story of Fire Emblem Awakening begins in the kingdom of Ylisse and centers on Lord Chrom, the brother of Ylisse’s Holy Ruler. Chrom leads the Shepherds, a band of soldiers who defend the borders of Ylisse from Plegian bandits. Players create a custom avatar and play as Chrom’s right-hand man who is deeply ingrained in the main storyline. In addition to an immersive storyline, Fire Emblem Awakening keeps the adventure going with StreetPass and SpotPass functionality, as well as downloadable content available for purchase. Newly revealed information includes the following:

Downloadable Content: Maps will be available to purchase and download starting on launch day, and others will be distributed regularly. The first downloadable map will be available for free for a limited time only and will serve as an introduction to the steady weekly stream of additional maps. The additional maps will be offered at different price points. Players with a copy of Fire Emblem Awakening and a broadband Internet connection will be able to access the downloadable content through the Outrealm Gate located on the in-game world map, which will be unlocked after the player completes the fifth mission in the main story mode. The content will include additional information about new class types, skills, playable characters, maps with new storylines and special maps that let players earn more experience points, gold or other rare items.

SpotPass: In addition to content that can be purchased from within the game, Nintendo will also distribute new content via SpotPass for free. SpotPass content will be distributed in the launch time frame and will feature new maps with new storylines, characters and items.

StreetPass: Fire Emblem Awakening players can set up a StreetPass Team and exchange certain game data with other players. The StreetPass Team is made up of 10 units from an existing team in story mode. Players can also edit team names and create custom messages for other players to see. StreetPass characters will randomly appear on the world map, giving players the option to recruit the team leader with gold, buy any weapons or items the team is carrying or battle and win to recruit the leader for free. Like the random battles in the main story mode, the player will have full control of battles in StreetPass mode. Players will also earn “renown” based on battles won. A players’ “renown” is visible to other players through StreetPass.

Fans can also try out Fire Emblem Awakening prior to launch by downloading the free demo available in the Nintendo eShop. The demo will be available on Jan. 17. When the game launches on Feb. 4, shoppers can purchase the packaged game as usual at retail locations nationwide. Or they can simply purchase and download the game on their own from the Nintendo eShop using a wireless broadband connection. Regardless of their purchasing method, the game sells for a suggested retail price of $39.99.

Fire Emblem: Awakening will feature a lot of content, DLC, SpotPass, StreetPass, and more. There will also be a demo of this game, coming Thursday, January 17, 2013.

Lastly, Nintendo of America also announced the Fire Emblem: Awakening 3DS Bundle coming as well, on Monday, February 4, 2013.

Not that some are not interested, it's just that there's not really much info out until now.

I also just got an email telling about the demo as well on Jan. 17th.

But wow, does this game look really good now! I think I might be getting this game around the time it comes out...
(The custom character sounds like the best part for me - that is if they do what I hope they do with it :P)

...you know, I now remember reading somewhere in an older Nintendo Power Magazine about a new Fire Emblem for the 3DS coming out in Japan... perhap this was that game they were talking about?
Of course, they say that was a remake... so I'm guessing this is probably a remake of one of those games...

This is an original game. Your probably thinking of Fire Emblem: Shin Monshō no Nazo: Hikari to Kage no Eiyū (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_Emblem:_Shin_Monsh%C5%8D_no_Nazo:_Hikari_to_Kage_no_Eiy%C5%AB), which is a remake for the DS that never made it's way to NA.

Probably right there.
I never saw much similarities from the images they provided at that time anyways, and I don't even think a 3DS was out yet.

Why was I thinking this way? :P

Just got the game today, even if it's set to be released in about... a week from now ;D

It's good so far, but all I've really done was go through the levels in the prologue and 1st chapter which was in the demo, as well as an additional chapter that's played before any of these chapters.

Might play some more of it soon. :P

DB - who cares at this time, because first DLC pack is available already (Before the release, it seems)
It's free, and the map is based on the first chapter of the first Fire Emblem game.

Also, here's the Iwata Asks (http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/3ds/fire-emblem/0/0) for Fire Emblem. One part of the interview states that this game could have taken place in Mars.

Mars? Really? Could have been fun if it really were to be taken place there...on a planet other than Earth.

Update:

SpotPass Updates throughout Spring 2013!

Quote from: Press Release
Fire Emblem Awakening launched on Feb. 4, exclusively on Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL, but bonus content keeps the game play going strong. Fans will continue to look forward to and receive free game content via SpotPass all the way through spring. This new SpotPass content is different from the downloadable content that is currently available through the game's Outrealm Gate. The free SpotPass map available today is called "A Hard Miracle," and follows the story of Fire Emblem Awakening main character Chrom as he encounters a mysterious woman and sets off on a journey with her to rescue a group of kidnapped villagers.

During the next few weeks, more maps will become available through the SpotPass feature. These include "Ghost of Blade" on March 28, a haunted tale about a ghost and the ultimate sacrifice; "The Wellspring of Trust" on April 11, a map full of challenging enemies; and "The Radiant Hero" on April 25, which takes place on an isolated island as Chrom and his allies search for a legendary hero. Players can also look forward to other special items that will be distributed for free via SpotPass, such as special weapons, additional playable characters and bonus challengers for the game's Double Duel multiplayer mode.

SpotPass is a built-in Nintendo 3DS feature that allows content to be automatically downloaded to a Nintendo 3DS hand-held system through wireless Internet access points. To receive content in Fire Emblem Awakening, users must opt in to receiving content from SpotPass. To check if SpotPass is on, open the main menu in the game by pressing the X button, then select "Wireless," then "SpotPass."

When SpotPass data is downloaded to the Nintendo 3DS system, users will receive a notification message. After receiving this message, open the main menu in the game once more, then select "Wireless," "Bonus Box" and "Update Now." The SpotPass maps can be found under "Bonus Maps."

For more information about Fire Emblem Awakening, visit http://fireemblem.nintendo.com/. (http://fireemblem.nintendo.com/.)
And here's more DLC packs:

Lost Bloodlines 3 ($2.50)
-Fight both armies from Lost Bloodlines 1 & 2
-Recruit Seliph from Seisen no Keifu
-Also receive the "Paragon" skill (2x experience)

Smash Brethren ($3.00)
-Join up with Roy's army to fight Ike's army
-Recruit Elincia from Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn

Smash Pack ($6.50)
-All 3 Smash Brethren maps (Smash Brethren 2 & 3 to be released later)

Profaneness? The game is pretty tame. You act like 8-4 did some terrible perverted translation :-p

Also you probably should never play any Atlus game ever if you find that profane. I can just imagine you playing Etrian Odyssey IV and you being mad when the weapon dealer says, "I've got a lady boner harder dan steel for dat stuff". Fire Emblem is a hilarious but pretty mild translation.

Buy this game. Its awesome. Support my boy Tony Loiseleur who worked on the translation and all the other fine people over at 8-4.

You don't need to be a kid, you just need to devote all your time of your days to the game.
But I have so many games to play lol
How to Get Rid of a Backlog:
1. Play the games you own now, and beat them.
2. Don't buy any new games.
3. Get upset that your missing out on a lot of good games. ;-;

This is the situation I have too. : (

@Toadette, what difficulty were you playing on?

And hearing that final boss theme makes reminds of how epic that ending was. :P

It really does though
It's useless in Streetpass though because most people I see play on Classic and would reset before it activates

Galeforce - pah.
I like more Male-only skills only more.
...like Counter. :P

BTW, do you plan on doing a Lunatic/Classic run at one point?
I've only played through it once myself (same as your recent difficulty, actually) and plan on doing that one I complete the Apotheosis DLC.

I'm doing a Lunatic/Classic playthrough, well at least I was.

Your going to be grinding for a really long time.

Check out the profile, he does all kinds of swords/weapons from movies/games/books. He's done the Master Sword, Bilbo's sword from the hobbit, Kratos' blades, etc..

Should have devoted more time into it a year ago before it was released. :P
Oh well, I expect a good number of posts on Miiverse about how awesome you think this is while you're playing it.

You might also want to look away form my own posts as well...

Ha! Yeah, this is my first time playing a game like this, so I went Normal and Casual. I've had a few Game Overs, but I'm still learning, seeing what works/doesn't work. And I keep forgetting I can Save during the battle. :P

I think I'm on Normal and Casual too. I'm so bad at Fire Emblem. I was playing Sacred Stones back when it came out on hte GBA, and I ended the game with only the units that couldn't die lol

I always play on Casual, even when I moved up to Hard Mode. Permadeath sucks and having to reset the game in order to complete the level with no deaths sucks even more.

Easy/casual is best for newcomers.  Normal has a few rough spots.

Odd... I started on Hard (Normal Difficulty :P)/Classic for my first playthrough. =/

I thought there were a few others who did what I've done as well...
but have move onto Lunatic already unlike me.

Darn it, I haven't played this game since like March 2013. I really need to get back into this, and make progress. I'm sure I'm still in Chapter 4 or 5, just haven't played since I got the free DLC that was offered back then.

I thought so but I could be making it up. Haven't played it in like 8 months. I thought my first playthrough was on easy.

There are four modes.
Normal, Hard, Lunatic, and Lunatic+.

Normal = Easy
Hard = Hard
Lunatic = Very Hard
Lunatic+ = u gon die son

Ah thanks for clearing that up. I don't have my 3DS around to check. I beat it twice on Normal (once classic and once casual) and started a third playthrough on Hard but then I just started grinding through it and that totally defeated the purpose of Hard so I stopped playing :P

Things are getting real in Chapter 10. :P The setting of the battle and the music that played with it really set the mood after everything that happened.

I can't believe I waited almost a year to play this game.

I didn't really feel any emotional attachment to that part. You barely know the character so it doesn't really mean much to the player. When I think about it the main story is pretty boring overall, its the support dialogue that really shows 8-4's fantastic localization.

By not class changing you'll severely limit the effectiveness of your units. Every time you change you gain the skills of that class, and of course you can use as many second seals on a character as you like.
