Title: School/College
Post by: MattC on August 10, 2010
This is the school topic.
The general school topic.

Discuss anything from K-University about school.

There were no other school topics. :|

I'm going into Grade 11 this September :3

I'm going into Grade 10 this year. :/ Sucks because I have three more years of pain to endure during high school, since I'm basically a "pathetic f**got", according to my hypocritical, self-confident peers. =P

You're still a freshman in your 2nd year? Did you get held back? :P

And I'm a junior in high school, 11th grade. Or at least I'm gonna be one in September.

Not sure. The college level on my schedule says "Freshman." I don't know. I'm positive that I didn't get held back...

I think I'm going to be a Sophomore, but that schedule says Freshman. I don't know the full story of it yet.

Post by: Chubzster on August 10, 2010
Well, I'm going to be a senior in high school. Thank God it's my last year because I can't stand the work and hours we are at school. We have to go from 7:15AM-3:00PM. Luckily, I have 6th and 7th off 1st semester, so I'll get out at 12:30 everyday or 1:30 on Wednesday. 2nd semester looks like 1st and 3rd off (wish it could still be 6th and 7th), but I won't have to start until 8:15 everyday or 10:20 on Thursday. I have to start on the 23rd, so I need to keep having fun.  ;D

I got my schedule the other day and it sucks balls. :P Last year my schedule was crap and this year it somehow got worse. My school day is from 8:30-2:30 so I got way less worktime than HBK. I'll post my schedule later or just edit it into this post.
Title: Re: School
Post by: Vipsoccermaster on August 10, 2010
My schedule seems to be pretty good. I only have four classes to deal with. After I finish half of the semester, only three classes.

Trigonometry: 11:00 AM - 11:50 AM Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday
Fitness for Life: 1:00 PM - 1:50 PM Tuesday/Friday (First half of semester only)
Contemporary Moral Issues: 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM Monday/Thursday
College Composition I: Expository Writing: 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM Tuesday/Friday

I'm free on Wednesdays for the semester. 8)

...Yeah, basically.

NY has the most prissy Education system in the states. No other states care about Regents (except Cali.), DOCM credits, and extracurricular crap and you can easiely slide by in school. But NY feels the need to keep on hammering us with crap that isn't important, because they think they're better than anyone.

Anyways, VIP, I start September 2nd and end June 24th. (28th if you count my History Regents).

If there's one thing that's bad about New York, it's the schools. They want you to have like a hundred extracurricular activities and you have to take the friggin regents. They also give a ton of homework. I get home from school at like six o'clock, and by the time I'm finished with my dinner, chores, etcetera, it's already eight o'clock, which means that I can't even go outside

Man I hate whenever I get morning wood in the middle of class, and then the teacher asks me to get up and come to the board. One time I was sitting down, minding my own business, trying to minimize my extremely random bonner that came out of nowhere. Then the mothersmurfing teacher asks me to get up and write something on the board for a grade, I told her no I'd rather take an F, but she started yelling so I had to wrap my penis in a circle between my pants and my boxers which was extremely painful, and I brought a big book for protection, nobody noticed anything, but my penis hurt for the next to hours and I got a yeast infection when I got home ಠ_ಠ

No clue, guess it's because they need time to make sure we get equal learning time across the subjects, as Monday is Assembly, Tuesday is Scripture, Wednesday is Sport, and Thursday/Friday is normal.

Also, first b-ball game was cancelled, other team forfeited.  :D

My basketball team needs someone to forfeit, we gotta win our last 3 games to make the playoffs or hope that winning 2 out of 3 will put us in a tie for 3rd in our division and make us eligible. And quite frankly we're not capable of putting up 3 wins like that so hopefully someone forfeits. :P

My team was extremely good

We only had ONE loss in our division, and there were somewhere between 11 to 14 games played. I think our record is like 12-1, but we did have a couple of losses in the other divisions that didn't count.

That one loss was in the first game of the season, and we forfeited a lot of people because we had a small team, while the other team was stacked

But that reminds me of when you miss some classes and the teacher is going to let you make them up, but until you do they put in 0s. I had a teacher do that once so my interim report grade was like a 70 and my mom was pissed. She didn't believe my explanation :(

I'm raped, F*** the deputy head/principal with all his "Freedom of speech" bulls*** when he doesn't let me explain myself. In other words its just another expulsion threat given to me(pretty much the same bulls*** he brings up for the past 2-3 years)

I'm not falling for it this time.

Edit: And also, my shoes were stolen 2-3 weeks ago, that should have been an expulsion right off the bat for whoever stole them, but in typical fashion I didn't find them yet(Probably never will)

@Socc: I thought Latin is a better subject wrt later secondary studies marks-wise. :p

Anyway, my uni timetable pretty much enmeshes anatomy, biochemistry, clinical skills, case based learning, ethics, law and sociology course together in no real structure besides a weekly pattern (or fortnightly in some cases)

I might fail Computer Applications this quarter because my teacher's a dipsh*t. I caught a cold and was out for two days, and had to miss several assignments which she wouldn't let me make up. In addition, I always print out papers, and she always ends up losing them

I will also probably since I bombed a huge test. But here's the kicker, that day I was 30 minutes late to class because a bunch of roads were closed off, and my bus had to take a huge detour. I came into the class with literally 11 minutes left, and the teacher made me take the entire F***ing test in 11 minutes without letting me finish it later during lunch or after school

Global History 10 - probably in the 80s, maybe 90s
English - probably in the 80s
Living Environment - 90
Gym - probably in the 90s
Geometry - 77
French - probably in the 80s
Drawing - probably in the 90s

I think I did better this quarter, which is weird considering I usually get the lowest average for the quarter for the third quarter. =P

Just started school again for Fall 2012 yesterday. Here are my classes:

Monday/Wednesday:

PHYS  221 - General Physics I - 9:30AM to 12:40PM (Lecture: 9:30AM to 11:00AM, Lab: 11:10AM to 12:40PM)
MUS   271 - Fullerton Symphony Orchestra - 6:50PM to 10:00PM (Monday's only)

Tuesday/Thursday:

MATH 250A - Multivariable Calculus (Calculus III) - 11:45AM to 1:50PM

Online:

HIST 110 - Western Civilizations I (from whenever AM to whenever PM. Basically whenever I want). As long as I get the weekly things done, I'm OK.

I have it somewhat easy for this semester, but it's enough to be considered a "full-time" student. The only real worries lie in Calculus 3 (I plainly dislike this type of math). Physics won't be too bad, Symphony will be a slight pain since we started to play hard stuff already, and History is just history.

Well I can play Violin, Viola and Piano, but I'm not the pianist (I'm not good enough). I currently play Violin with the 1st Violins (sometimes 2nd Violins). Since I also play Viola, I would be able to play in either section (if I don't feel like playing a complicated first Violin part along with the ensemble [due to sheer laziness, lol ] I ask the conductor if I can play my Viola with the Viola Section) but unfortunately it had a little accident. I haven't shared my schedule, so let me share it lol. Each period is about 75 minutes and I have 4 classes per day.

The classes I have are listed below:

Electromecanism
Arts
Ethics & Religion, Career Choice.
Gym
Mecanic
French
English
MathSN
Contemporary World

No history & no chemistry this year thanks god. I must say I'm pretty happy with my classes, only classes that may be a problem are French and probably maths this year.

Second one is Maths, more precisely Vectors, u know that useless thing we never use in real life... and third one is MCO (Monde Contemporain in french, translated in english it'd be something like; Contemporary World)... I went back to school today... seriously sucked.

1st period, I have history. BORRRRRRRING. I was listening to my music and I fell asleep too. :P

2nd period, I have Gym. Oh my god that was F***ery. For WHATEVER reason, at the beginning of the school year, no one cares that there's like 5 classes of gym at once. Today there were 5 gym classes AT THE SAME TIME; my class, the other 9th graders, the girls soccer, the boys hockey AND the 10th grade class. The school gym is big enough for 2 classes (there's a curtain to split it in half).
Both my class and the other 9th graders had to go the weight room, and my god it sucked. We had to do "something" and I literally just sat there on a yoga ball all class. The school needs to get it together...

3rd period, I had Science. We were learning about the cardiovascular system and it was just boring. We also had to exercise to compare our beats per minute before and after we exercise. It wasn't fun. >__>

4th period, I had Math. We were learning about relations and my god it was confusing. It was pretty boring.

Added "College" to the title since a lot of us are in college as well. :P

I start my first year of college (a little late, I know :P) on January 22nd. I'm gonna be taking four classes (ENG, CSC, MAT, PSY), on Tuesdays (ENG, CSC, MAT) and Thursdays (ENG, MAT, PSY). That's only about 4 and a half hours each day (9 hours a week). They aren't all next to each other, but they provide a nice 5-7 hour gap between them to allow me to get some HW done and/or get lunch, run some quick errands, whatever. Just glad it's not as busy as high school.
Title: Re: School/College
Post by: Vipsoccermaster on January 09, 2013
Chubzster, are you working part-time or full-time? Not sure if you already mentioned it, sorry if you have. And how many units is that?

That's a pretty good schedule you got there, but too bad none are back-to-back, though you're able to get homework done. My courses meet Monday/Thursday, and they're all back-to-back, with C-Hour from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM. During this time, I can have my lunch. I might also be able to do my homework if possible, but I usually like to do it at home.

I'm a caregiver for my mother. What do you mean by units?

I actually like the fact they're spaced apart, it gives me time to eat lunch and whatever else. I'll have three classes on both days, having two of those classes back-to-back though. It's actually the best way I could have structured it for the types of classes I enrolled in this semester. Another plus is that the CSC and PSY classes are hybrid, meaning they're half on-campus and half online, which is convenient.

Tuesday:

ENG - 8:00AM - 9:15AM
CSC - 9:30AM - 11:00AM
MAT - 4:00PM - 5:40PM

Thursday:

ENG - 8:00AM - 9:15AM
MAT - 4:00PM - 5:40PM
PSY - 6:00PM - 7:30PM

1st: Geometry with the usual crap. My teachers voice was so nasal because of a cold, it was really hard to understand. My partner that I sit next to is no help either. All he does is copy off of me.
2nd: I actually loved Band. We got a new song, Incidental Suite. I have a really long solo so I suggest you guys look it up and see what I am talking about.
3rd: Latin was the usual. He seemed really stressed about upcoming finals.
4th: Certamen and lunch were meh. We did the usual and I actually ate lunch for once.
5th: Went over English tests and talked about finals. I have a 60 in that class and I have a week to bring it up.
6th: Watched Dave Ramsey in GT Studies and went over our notes. Getting ready for the big district case study financial contest.
7th: Im getting tired of this lady. We have a test tomorrow(actually today but writing from yesterdays perspective) about s*** two weeks ago.
8th: Meh World Geo is the same thing every day.

I think this is the only year where I have prioritized school above everything else in my life(not that I was ever a bad student...). I'm doing pretty well especially considering the very, very expectations that most people have of my district. I got into a small, professional college counseling program for my senior year and they really helped a lot with the college process. I applied to 12 out-of-state privates schools along with 8 schools in California. Lots of writing for supplements and, even more, rewriting.

Despite that, Senior year has been the best school year for me so far and I've been doing a lot of fun things. I've never been the kind of person to hate school anyways.

I pretty much aced all my subjects and did extracirrcular activities but I didn't really plan for college at all. All I really did was do homework and party lol. It's coming back to bite me in the ass seeing as how I am in college without a hint of scholarship help and currently on support from federal aid. :P I gotta say, if any of you are Seniors this year I suggest that you get your butt in gear for scholarships and grants. Those will really help out.

Why am I telling you this? Because finding hot professors is important for paying attention.

But on a more serious note, I'm probably gonna register for a Summer semester. I virtually don't have any plans to look for another Summer job and this way I can probably graduate sometime in the Fall at least.

Kind-of yes, kind-of no.
I'm done with highschool, but officially I graduate at the end of the year like everyone else here.

This program I'm in lets me complete my first year post-secondary right after the first semester of grade 12 (and will end right at the end of what should be the second semester - so I'll be done first year of post-secondary when I do graduate)

So, for some reason, the college decided to LAST WEEK give me my transcript for my grades in the Fall 2012 Semester. Thanks......I guess?

Here's my results from my first college semester evar:

Fall 2012

Drawing I - B-
Design I - C
Art History I - A+
Modern American History - A+
English I - A

Total GPA: 3.6
Total credits earned: 15/15

Not bad considering the art teachers here can be kind of stingy with grades, plus art is subjective so it's very hard to pass even with a B. I was only 1 decimal off from making the Dean's List, which pissed me off lol. Hopefully this Semester I can do a lot better, considering I have 20 credit hours now.......I hope so. :P

Some time in July.
Much later than usual, but that's what I get for entering this program.

...meh, I'm forced to start working immediately afterwards, and that's going be some much longer (though more interesting) days to come.

I finish classes on Thursday, May 2, 2013. Finals on Monday, May 6, 2013 only. And then I graduate for an A.A. degree on Saturday, May 11, 2013. After that, who knows what I might do. I might either continue on or just take a break and get a job so I can make money.

I changed my major from Art to Humanities. I'm planning on holding off my Animation career because I think I'd do a lot better as a History Teacher in high school.

All of my current classes transferred over for credit so that's wicked awesome.

Also, my current Semester ends May 17th.

I'm already registered for Summer semester. I'm taking Pre-Calc (5), Computer Science: C++ (4), and Colorado History (3) for a total of 12 credits. They'll all online, which helps on saving gas and it's really convenient for me. It costs a little more, but they didn't offer campus classes for them.

Anyway, Summer only goes for 8-9 weeks as opposed to the usual 15-16 week classes, which is nice. I did not want to sit in a boiling classroom anyway. XD

Hopefully, I'll be able to rake in some scholarships with my great grades. ;)

Anyone else registered for Summer?

Let's see....

School's going on smoothly. I can probably manage an A for Chemistry, if I do well in my Political Science class, I just might edge into an A, and there's no way I'm getting an A in Multi-variable Calculus, a B would be a miracle! Why is it that math teachers for me have been terrible for the most part? I had to drop Multivariable last semester because the exams never fitted in well with the homework (practicing for the exams via homework was absolutely useless) and over half of the class dropped aswell. Now I'm doing better, but that's because the exams actually fit well with the homework assignments, but he throws us off so much, to a point where the homework helps us understand the concepts only, not how to deal with curve-balls.

Math teachers are just horrible over here, especially for upper leveled math courses, and at least my counselor also thinks so. Anyone else have to deal with terrible teachers?

Probability and Statistical Inference: B+ (88 average)

So I've started my English and French in-class exams lol

They'll take about 7 classes. For English, we have 3 classes for our opinion article; the other 4 are for writing a response. It's based on success and what it is and what our definitions are. :P
Today was just like notes and discussion, but we haven't started our article/response yet lol

For French, we're doing it on violence in media and today was basically trying learn what was most violent. Then like the 3rd or 4th class we have an oral interaction, and then we gotta do our opinion text on it. :P

Also, for my finals in June, I have...

June 10th: Math Part 1 (9 AM - 11 AM)
June 11th: Math Part 2 (9 AM - 12 PM)
June 14th: History (1 PM - 3 PM)
June 17th: Science (9 AM - 12 PM)

I hate how the exams start at 9 AM b/c my school bus doesn't come until 8:50 AM and I don't get to school until like 9:30...
Then the 66 bus that comes to my bus stop comes at like 8:40 AM but it'll probably get there shortly after 9 AM.
So I'mma have to take an earlier 66 bus...

Also, my Science teacher better not F***ing make us lose marks if there's an error in the question again; in the mid-terms we lost like 8 marks b/c there was misleading info (like this question said name a substance that boils at 0 degrees Celsius but then while he was correct he F***ing tells us "oh it should've said 100 degrees" but still marked it wrong...) -__-
Then this other question, there was something we never covered and he still marked it wrong. >__>

Summer semester ends on August 4th for me. I'm currently studying for finals.

Oh boy, has it been a challenging semester. I thought online classes were going to be better and easier, but it takes a lot of self-discipline. It's hard focusing on classes when I'm not in an actual classroom, but it was definitely worth trying. I'll probably never take online classes again, as campus classes are more enjoyable, interactive and a hell of a lot cheaper.

This is the main reason I've been less active on the forum. I'll be active once fall starts, though. =) By that time, I'll have a high-performance PC. =)

For those of you interested, these are the some of the specs:

Well...I'm gonna be working in the computer science field, when I obtain my degrees (I plan on getting my Masters). I'm gonna work to become a computer programmer/game programmer, so I thought I'd get a strong PC that could do a s***load of work. I'm gonna be in all computer science-heavy classes (game design and development, Adobe Photoshop, C++, Python, Java, etc.) for the next few years, so I wanted to go all out. I also wanna start playing games on PC, since my current PC is a pile of s***. I've been wanting to do this for some time, but I've just never had a decent computer. The best I've ever had is (and am currently using):

Windows 7 Professional
Intel Pentium 4
2GB RAM, though my PC only recognizes one of my RAM sticks, so basically 1GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 6200
120GB HDD

Whatever respect I might have considered towards you got tossed along with your ideas about what's 'best' for Boo.
Narcissist. Good luck when you enter the workforce.

Anyway I seem to behaving moments of dullness in some of the tutes with consultants; partly because I'm being distracted and partly because I probably should have done more prereading on topics. I am not superb with self directed learning as it is; I know whatever intrinsic skill I have won't be enough. :p

You know what, I'm getting tired of your dumbass, seriously. For you recollection and recognition, I got a B in ENG101 and a B+ in ENG102 and never had to take a remedial English course and also scored a perfect grade on my Writing Placement Test. You're not being nice, you're being an ass. Also, we don't have Language Arts like the Middle-Schoolers do. I do adore other people getting A's and such. I was just getting a bit mad because it's hard for me to get an A in my classes (Mathematics as a major is no joke). Also, I don't have a psychological disorder therefore I don't need to see a psychologist. I have taken a course in psychology and know this for a fact. You need to check your damn neurotransmitters because you are infatuated with Luigi and whenever someone criticize him, you get all pissy and b****y. Don't come for me.

On another note:
I'm taking these classes in FALL2013
Spanish 101
Accounting 101
Economics 113
Physics 151 (For Mathematics)
Math (I forgot number) Foundations of Advanced Mathematics

I took two cooking classes back in HS. It was definitely worth it. Most of the time, we just cooked food, like stir fry, pizza, omelets, etc. and then ate it.

I remember the day we made numerous steaks: Ribeye, flat iron, cubed, t-bone...That was the best day of class ever.

I took Art of Food Prep (required for Gourmet Foods) and then Gourmet Foods 1. They were seriously two of the best classes I got to take in HS. They were a lot of fun and generally useful. I know I'll be using some of the stuff I learned there at college.

It's easy, he/she will show you how to cook something, you will then do it yourself (or with a group, usually with a group), and then you eat it. Of course, there are also written stuff too, and tests that were insanely long, well, in the cooking class I took in HS we had like 6 75 question free-response tests throughout the year. Funny part, was that the questions were almost exactly the same as the homework he would give us....in the same order....and the papers looked very similar (except one said "test - prep" and the other said "examination"). I didn't care for learning all of that stuff though, I just memorized all 75 answers in that order, filled in the test quickly and was done with it. Easy "A" IMO. You'll have fun, just as long as your teacher isn't a jerk.

That's okay, I wasn't in a rush, lol. I did my financial planning and it turns out that I will have enough money for the PC, so I will go ahead and get it.

Just to be on the safe side, I'm gonna see my gaming advisor on Wednesday (since I'm in her class) to see if she has any student deals for me. She might be able to find me a computer as strong, or stronger, than this one and for a cheaper price tag.

School-wise, this is gonna be an awesome semester. 15 minutes into Game Design & Development and people are debating over which Final Fantasy is the best. XD I can't wait to hear the other debates we'll have throughout the year.

Adobe Photoshop I
Fundamentals of Unix
Game Design & Development
Intro to Python Programming

OMG PYTHON PROGRAMMING
I used that program in my Multivariable Calculus class (As ridiculous as that sounds)

And I damn sure forgot how to use Python already...

That's how I brought this laptop. Had extra cash saved up.

I start tomorrow. My classes:

ENG 214 English Grammar and Usage
ENG 287 Poetry Workshop
ENG 394 Superstition Review (magazine intern)
ENG 425 Studies in Romanticism
ENG 464 Great Directors
ENG 465 Studies in Film

I actually had a Communications class up until this morning where I switched it for another English class. As an English Lit major, I have a lot of freedom in terms of picking what kind of classes I want to take. Take note, two classes revolve around movies. :P

I think the Grammar and Usage class will help me a lot. :P Studies in Romanticism falls under a required category, isn't the most exciting. Not a fan of Poetry, but I think it would do me good to take another class on it. The magazine intern is online and is mostly consists of using social media to interact/promote the magazine.

My financial aid is on its way to my bank (from my college), which means it'll be here in the next few days, two weeks max. I'm dying to buy my computer already. I might have to wait a couple of weeks anyway because my computer is out of stock on Newegg, TigerDirect, EVERYWHERE. :P

Don't forget the many principles, assumptions, rules, and so on that you have to remember.

There's also:

Bank Reconciliation
Income Statement
Bank Statement
Balance Sheet
Statement of Cash Flows
Statement of Owner's Equity
Prepaid Expenses (which are assets)
Unearned Revenues (which are expenses)
Merchandise Inventory
Cost of Goods Sold
FIFO
LIFO
Weighted Average
Internal Control
Plant Assets
Operating Expenses
Misc Expenses
Unit Pricing
Unadjusted Trial Balance
Adjusted Trial Balance
Credits and debits (the damn things XD)

I, too, am great with math, but when it's combined with a bunch of these terms (and so many god damn more)...it gets messy. :P

The only thing I would hate about the class is that there are nine unannounced quizzes throughout the semester, though the first quiz was announced beforehand. I take the first quiz on Thursday, September 12, 2013. The slightly only good thing about the quizzes is that there are only worth two points each, totaling to 18 points.

Before it actually happened though he got up to tell the teacher that he wasn't feeling well (and said he was cold and his back hurt from this morning) and then a few seconds later his eyes rolled back and he fainted (but the teacher caught him). Then we had to turn on the intercom to call for a student supervisor to come in, but it didn't help that like 10 students were yelling in the intercom. I was worried about the student but thankfully he's fine now... But then after the teacher got mad at the students who were screaming cause that did not help the situation at all, and I can't blame him for that. I just tried to stay calm during this incident though.

Hopefully this won't happen again. :/

Oh wow. Back in September 2010, on the day before my birthday, a similar situation happened. But it was a girl, and she fainted all of a sudden. She fell off the desk. The instructor told one of the students to make a call, and luckily the library was across the hall from our classroom. Then the instructor told us to go relax outside for a bit. The girl merely fainted and was taken to the hospital. I was sitting on my desk, and that girl happened to be sitting right next to me.

This is my schedule for the year:

Fall Term
First Year Japanese 101
Shakespeare and Music
Calculus II
The Computing Age

January Term
First Year Japanese 102

Spring Term
First Year Japanese 103
Math Foundation of Computing
Animals in Literature and Culture

Game Design & Development: A
Photoshop I: A
Python I: A

I've worked hard keeping this 4.0 GPA, but next semester is going to be the most difficult by far. This is what Spring 2014 will look like:

Computer Science I: C++
Game Programming w/Python
Python II
Systems Analysis & Design

And I'd say you should take all those classes without dropping. I mean come on, I've been taking four courses each semester (with the exception of the three online during summer, which were pretty tough), and I'm doing just fine, so you should give it a shot. Plus, it's going to take longer for you to finish if you only do it one (or two) classes at a time, so I'd definitely suggest taking those for the time being.

^Computer Science I: C++? What's up with the C++?

My schedule for next semester isn't quite final, but for now, it's this:

Perspectives on Global Development - Mon/Thu at 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM
Financial Accounting - Mon/Wed/Thu at 4:30 PM - 5:45 PM
Business Law - Mon/Wed at 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM

I might drop a class or two, not sure.

C++ is a programming language (otherwise to answer your question, that's just the name).

And I'd say you should take all those classes without dropping. I mean come on, I've been taking four courses each semester (with the exception of the three online during summer, which were pretty tough), and I'm doing just fine, so you should give it a shot. I know it would take longer, and I appreciate your thoughts, though really, it's entirely up to me to choose the pace in college.

I'm still giving thoughts about Business Law, cause I know that course will offer intensive reading (I took Intro to Business this past semester and I barely even used the textbook at all).

Hopefully I'll get through these two classes with ease.

The second week of my college classes have passed and I've been slacking off slightly, with the first calculus II homework not going very well (mostly because they were on topics I didn't study in calc I and I procrastinated too much X_X)
I'm determine to de-procrastinate this time. I've already finished my readings and response for tomorrow's literature class, I'm currently reading up on wednesday's biology lab, and I plan to work on calculus II's next homework later...and THIS time, I will get all the problems done.

I'm in my final year of school to those that didn't know, but Term 1 has actually gone REALLY smoothly for me! :D
The guidance counselor actually pulled me out of class the other day, and he said I'm a shoe-in for the college I want to attend and the program I want to take. :P

My classes and marks:

- French: 84
- English: 87
- CPUs: 99
- Media Arts: 95
- Visual Arts: 88
- Contemp. World (aka Social Studies): 83
- Ethics: 99
- Gym: 92
- IP (Integrative Project): 100
- Math: 99

Even though most of my classes this year have either really disruptive students (both my Arts and English are examples lol) or not so good teachers (Contemp. World), I'm surprised I've been doing well, haha.

IP class is basically you have a year-wide project revolving around something you love, and by the end of the year you're supposed to have a final product. I'm doing mine around game design (which my teacher thinks is AWESOME). ^__^

Anywho I had a good first semester:

Seminar: A
Intro to World Literature: A
Intro to Music: A
Germany Today: A-
College Algebra: A

These are my estimations a least, for my German class if I got a perfect on my final paper I'd have 92.8% while an A is 93% so my instructor might be nice enough to bump it up which would be cool.

hopefully when you kids get to college you don't have to have online classes shoved down your throat. they're cool if they are done correctly but for a lot of professors it's a very new thing. one of my classes this year is entirely online and the teacher doesn't really know how to handle it all that great. luckily it's pretty easy.

it's finals week here

i started off with the exam for my online course. my college is trying to incorporate more online content for their programs (regardless of the program) so they've mandated that every class have at least an hour cut from the in-class time and have whatever material that would usually be covered with those lost 14 hours online. for some other classes like my green buildings class they just put the entire thing online so this year was a massive guessing game for the teacher and it really showed throughout the year with every aspect of this class. that feeling really hit the peak today when i get there and literally nothing is set up and the teacher doesn't know how to find the lockdown browser so we can actually do the exam.

i paid for this

I was cleaning up stuff from the school year and this (https://scontent-lga1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/10433239_1025966617415500_5805416909682341104_n.jpg?oh=a9d9a873e60ff5a7f6353896dca2919b&oe=55F7A92D) turns out to be what I have for recycling.

Now that I look at it, I hate when teachers say "you need this many notebooks for this course" or give you a workbook and you literally only write in ONE page in each of them.

And then we wonder why so many trees are killed and why school fees are so high (seriously on the school fees the Contemporary World Book is like $25+ but we only used that thing literally once). =P

I'd like to know, does that seem to occur in college as well?

I hated the first year and was seriously considering dropping out and moving back home in the summer.

The problem is that the first year was a "general year", meaning that it was a bunch of engineering kids all learning the same thing. I wasn't actually in the program. I'm willing to give it a few weeks but I haven't been impressed with the college or what I've been given.

So I just reached half of my semester. I now have my week off. I guess I could say it's been going just okay. On 8 classes, there are 3 I'm having a lot of trouble with, or at least, had a rough start... I managed to pick up myself in the past 2 weeks, just a little and I'm hoping the rest of the semester will go smoothly (which I highly doubt, the smooth part). Though, I believe I've been working hard so hopefully the remaining 8 weeks will be okay.

Anyways, Algebra I is kinda easy this year. We are going our unit test/exam on Monday. I may attempt to take an SSAT math in a few weeks, as a side note. ;)

Well, my midterms were about 2 weeks ago, and I did really good! In all my clases I'm doing great, but I need to put effort on some of them more than others. My only complaint about this high school is that I need to do many group projects... I'm better doing things alone.
Also, I have 6 more weeks to finish my semester. Yay?

So last week was my first week back in college. 7 new classes, I'm feeling confident atm. They do not seem too bad and I have some good teachers. Though, there's a huge lack of good friends in my classes, so that's kind of a letdown, but I have to do it. Really hoping I get better grades this semester compared to the past two (Spring 2015 and Fall 2015). Also, I won't have full days, so that's a good thing as most days i'll finish before 1pm instead of being in college till 6pm.

Revival?

For Biology, my advice would be to study your ass off. Not even like super hard Ivy League studying, but rewriting notes about the section helps you retain info to do well on the tests. Geometry I took last year in 8th, I will assure you it's not hard, but let me know if you ever need help with proofs. They're not easy, but if you understand how they work, then you'll succeed.
Anyways, this quote remind me of something stupid my school did last school year. The school district took out Algebra for 7th grade, meaning we had to wait until freshman year to take Geometry. I don't remember why but it was right before I went into 7th grade, so my older brother actually got to take Geometry before I did. At least it made last year and this year to some extent, a cruise.

I'm a Freshman

First Semester Schedule:

1/2 - Religion (I go to Catholic School, lol. Honors Religion isn't offered until Senior Year)
3 - Madrigal (The Auditioned Choir)
4 - Lunch
Activity
5/6 - Honors World History
7/8 - Honors English

Second Semester Schedule:

1/2 - Honors Biology
3 - Madrigal
4 - Acting 1
Activity - Lunch
5 - Integrated Tech/Foundations Of Writing
6 - Health/Gym
7/8 - Honors Algebra 2 w/ Trig

I would've taken a Language this year, but the Integrated Tech/Foundations of Writing, Health, and Lunch for first semester were all required. Madrigal is both semesters. Acting was a filler class. I'll probs take a language over the summer.

I hate the fact you have to take classes that are in no way related to your major in order to graduate. I wish you could graduate taking only the classes required for your major. Well as well all know, college it's more of a business than an actually institution that cares for the students. The price of college has gone up 1120% in the past 30 years. They always include many fees that we don't even use or need lol. Back then you were able to work and pay college yourself, now it's really hard to do that.

If your parents paid for it you are lucky! but if you had to pay for it yourself or get loans then back luck xD

Those classes are annoying yet required for something they call General Education. I know it is stupid and I questioned it but it is to make sure you're well rounded in ALL areas rather than your major. You don't want to be a Math major yet lethargic in English skills or Science Skills. Its to build your general knowledge...

i see your point, but employees don't really care weather you took "science classes" "art classes" or "history" all they care when you get hired it's the level of achievement you got in college, wether it's a bachelor or a master and what kind of major it is. That is all. Regardless college is wayyy too expensive nowadays
