I think the reason why it's not coming to the NX is because the developers behind this game does not have the NX devkits.

Also, more footage:

I think the reason why it's not coming to the NX is because the developers behind this game does not have the NX devkits.

It would've been easy to develop on the NX if it wasn't for the goddamn controller (if the rumored design leaks are true) and because the NX still doesn't have the right specs for simple input. This is what brought many developers to not develop on the Wii (motion control nonsense) and only solidified their concerns further when you had the WiiU GamePad. If you have a simple set of standard controllers like the PS4 and XONE and no gimmicks behind it, of course the game is going to be easier to develop. Control is the biggest aspect of any gameplay.

This isn't being developed by Sega, but by Christian Whitehead (who did an AWESOME port for Sonic CD for PS3 and 360, you should play it) and an indie developer composed of mostly Sonic fan hackers. Sega is doing something right here, they are listening to the fans concerns of the direction of the franchise by recruiting FANS to make future games. This is every community's dream, and it's a smart business decision. I think someone at Sega America saw the popularity Freedom Planet had and rolled with this idea.

Very excited for this one, I've always been a bit of a classic Sonic fan so to have a new instalment with retro sprites its very welcomed actually.
