These creatures are very interesting. I'm surprised they're there. I have seen many videos on this and read about it but it's still mysterious, I'd like to see these guys return, it adds an eerie feeling to the place. These guys seem to serve some spooky purpose, or perhaps some foreshadowing?

I'm still surprised on how this still remains to be popular and it's still unsolved. Will we ever get a solution? Will Nintendo ever explain this mystery?
I think it will never be clearly explained, it seems that the developers are adding these "creepy" things for fun similar to the ghosts in Pokemon. Super Mario 3D Land added some well hidden ghost, so I believe they are going to continue adding creatures like this in future 3D Super Mario games. I don't mind, they are awesome.
