Now that Mario Party: Island Tour is out, and that I have it, I'd like to share my initial impressions, pros/cons, and overlook on the game.
In my opinion, the game is good, but then sometimes, it's not. It's not as good as the previous titles in the series, and ironically, it's even not as good as Mario Party DS. However, this isn't in anyway saying that it's a bad game, because it does take a new turn for the series, probably for the better.
Pros:
Great-looking graphics.
Boards!
Certain mini-games.
New gameplay aspects!
Cons:
Character roster!
No Classic Mode!
Shy Guy's Shuffle City only for multiplayer.
Collectibles!
No Story Mode!
The only major complaint I have about the game is the replay value. Even though the game offers a number of boards and a wide selection of mini-games, that's really about it. Island Tour doesn't have much else. Bowser's Tower is fun, but it's not too fun. My biggest complaint involving the replay value is the shop and collectibles. The collectibles are nothing but voice clips and music heard in the game. This is both ridiculous and bad because you already hear this music in the game, and these simple music and voice sounds could've easily been replaced with more characters, boards, and special extras you could buy in the shop.
Overall, I give this game a 4/5. Even though the only actual problem is the replay value, the game still offers enough enjoyment for you to have while playing.
I recommend it.
