Purple Pikmin are superior to reds. =P Any Pikmin can destroy fire geysers in Pikmin 2 lol
And yes Purple Pikmin are my favorites, they are broken as they are SUPER strong, can stun enemies and have the lifting power of 10 Pikmin per Purple which makes multitasking a LOT easier.
Only thing is that they are slow, but speed from Pikmin isn't exactly needed unless you're avoiding bosses.
They also don't have any immunities, but they can usually kill or stun the enemy before it attacks.

Pikmin, Red Pikmin, due to the fact they are stronger fighters.
Pikmin 2, Purple Pikmin, as Yoshi8984 stated. But I also like White Pikmin for their speed. It's useful for getting a certain object being quickly transported.

Red pikman because I think of it as the leader of the Pikmin.
Ofcourse I never played 2 so I wouldn't know how good purple Pikmin are.
I think my favorite looking ones are the white, but the most useful are the blue.
Probably blue or purple. Blue pikmin don't have the problem of OMGDIDTHEYDROWN, and purple pikmin are perfect for tasks like lifting heavy objects that a whole group of other pikmin can't, since one purple=10 normals.
I like purple and red and white.
Blues are 2nd favorite just because of their ability to be in the water and also save drowning pikmin. Though I kinda wish you didn't have to dismiss the Blues to be near the drowning Pikmin, I wished they using the C-Stick to move them would make them actually save the Pikmin. LOL
Also if Blues can throw Purples THAT FAR, why don't they have the same lifting power as Purples? XD
