Yes, I think Toadette was the best addition. I picked her nearly every time in MP6 and 7. They need to bring her back. I adored her 'Mushroom' taunt as well.
Do I think she was the absolute best? No. But she still was interesting nonetheless, though I started to dislike her in MP9 because for some reason, she was just so annoying... =P No disrespect to the Toadette fans here.
Toad, Boo, and Koopa Kid were probably my favorite additions and the ones I was the most excited for.

Even though it's a small poll (the best I could find) it's clear that Birdo is disliked most. On top of that, a lot of the likers came from Yoshi, the most popular character. Yes, both of our opinions are biased, but it's not hard for me to find comments of those who dislike Birdo. I don't even hear people talking about Waluigi as often as Birdo. Also, You're saying that Rosalina wouldn't fit in a game full of humans and moving, talking animals and fungi? She is after all, as you say, a remodeled version of Peach.
Anyway, Toadette is my favourite fungi and I hope she is in the next Mario game. I do occasionally play as her, though she's not my main character.

Yes we are both biased, but Waluigi isn't useless as a character (if Toadette's appearance in TTYD counts as being a more main character then Waluigi appearing in M&L counts to) and Birdo isn't a complete hated sucker dino thing.
ANYWAY! The reason I say Rosalina wouldn't fit in is becuase the characters in Mario Party act cartoony and Rosalina is to serious and passive of a character to play something like MP.
