Staryu's 31-Day Pokemon Challenge (Pokemon On Kommand)

So I saw Toadette and Jinx doing this, and thought why the heck not. I'll do it too, so expect this to be posted in every day of my favorites and what not. Alright here we go.

Spinarak
Type: Bug/Poison

It lies still in the same pose for days in its web, waiting for its unsuspecting prey to wander close.

X
It spins a web using fine--but durable--thread. It then waits patiently for prey to be trapped.

Spinarak is the String Spit Pokémon. It shares coloring and appearance with the Happy Face Spider, an arachnid from Hawaii that seems to have a face on its abdomen. Spinarak's name is a combination of spinneret (where a spider excretes silk from) or the verb spin and arachnid. Spinarak is also the Afrikaans word for spider web. Spinarak is a basic Pokemon, and it evolves into Ariados when reaching Level 22.

Spinarak was the first Bug-type Pokemon I ever caught in Pokemon Gold. I've always loved spiders, and though Spinarak may not exactly be a spider (or an arachnid for a better term), but it's still like one, and it resembles one. It's also very cute! Spinarak may not be the strongest Pokemon, but as expected, Bug-type Pokemon aren't usually strong. Though it's bad stats doesn't stop it from being my favorite. It's evolution Ariados is pretty strong, knowing great moves like X-Scissor, Cross Poison, and Sucker Punch.

They employ an electrically charged web to trap their prey. While it is immobilized by shock, they leisurely consume it.

Y
When attacked, they create an electric barrier by spitting out many electrically charged threads.

Galvantula is the EleSpider Pokémon. Galvantula is based on a tarantula, or a jumping spider. Galvantula is a combination of galvanism and tarantula. Galvantula is a fully evolved Pokemon, it evolves from Joltik at Level 36.

Yes, I'm listing 2 Bug Pokemon for this one! Galvantula is just bad-ass, you can't deny it. Spinarak is more cute, but Galvantula is more strong, and intimidating. Very great for competitive purposes, however he has a weakness to Stealth Rock, and his defenses are not the best, so he does need some support. Still, he does have some great perks. One of them being he has access to "Compound Eyes", which allows better accuracy for moves like Thunder, which is known to miss a lot. His speed is also pretty good, base stat being 108.

Cacturne
Type: Grass/Dark

During the daytime, Cacturne remains unmoving so that it does not lose any moisture to the harsh desert sun. This Pokémon becomes active at night when the temperature drops.

Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/X
It becomes active at night, seeking prey that is exhausted from the day's desert heat.
PokeDex Entries said:
Cacturne is the Scarecrow Pokémon. Cacturne is based on a cactus, possibly the saguaro, and a scarecrow. It could be associated with nighttime because Cacti are known as night (CAM) plants, as their CO2 fixation process occurs during the night. Cacturne is a combination of cactus and nocturne or nocturnal. It may also involve tricorne, referring to its head shape. Cacturne is a fully evolved Pokemon, it evolves from Cacnea when reaching Level 32.

Cacturne was always interesting to me, a shady cactus... I think the main reason that got me to like Cacturne, is the anime in fact. Harley, a re-occuring coordinator who hated May. He had a Cacturne, and his clothes resembled one pretty well too. So every time I think of Cacturne, I think of Harley, which makes him cool to me. Cacturne competitively may not be the best, because of it's speed and lackluster defenses. However, it's not bad by any means. Don't forget it has moves like Sucker Punch to overcome speed, and you can run a Trick Room team, which Cacturne would greatly appreciate. Not only that, but Cacturne's Attack/Sp. Attack are both at the same amazing levels, and he also has access to Swords Dance and Nasty Plot. Cacturne is very cool, and competitively he can be great too.

So I have pretty much missed these last few days, which I'm sorry for. I'll make up for them now!

Red/Blue
A mystical Pokémon that exudes a gentle aura. Has the ability to change climate conditions.

Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/X
It becomes active at night, seeking prey that is exhausted from the day's desert heat.

Dragonair is the Dragon Pokémon. It appears to be based on sea serpents or ryu, traditional Japanese dragons or Chinese dragons who bring good luck. Dragonair may be a combination of dragon and air (referring to its ability to change the weather or to its air of grace and majesty) or debonair (graceful, referring to its graceful flying capabilities). It could also make reference to a "lair", the traditional home of a dragon. Dragonair is the middle evolution in the Dratini line. Dragonair evolves from Dratini at Level 30, and Dragonair evolves into Dragonite at Level 55.

I love Dragonair's look. At first it looks all innocent at first glance, but it's actually a very tough Pokemon. Dragonair is a pure Dragon type, so that means he resists all the Water, Fire, Grass, Electric moves, and has only a x2 weakness to Ice. In Pokemon Stadium, Dragonair is very powerful, with access to a lot of elemental moves.

Magneton
Type: Electric/Steel
(originally just Electric in Gen 1)

PokeDex Entries said:
Red/Blue
Formed by several Magnemite linked together. They frequently appear when sunspots flare up.

Emerald
It is actually three Magnemite linked by magnetism. It generates powerful radio waves that raise temperatures by 3.6 degrees F within a 3,300-foot radius.
PokeDex Entries said:
Magneton is the Magnet Pokémon. Magneton is a cluster of three Magnemite which in turn seems to be based on the objectification of electromagnetism, one of the four fundamental interactions of nature. They are likely linked through strong electromagnetic force. Magneton may be a reference to magneton, a unit of magnetic movement, or a magnetron forms the core of a microwave oven. Magneton is the middle evolution in the Magnemite line. Magneton evolves from Magnemite at Level 30, Magneton evolves into Magnezone while leveling up at Mt. Coronet or Chargestone Cave or Kalos Route 13

I love Magneton, in Generation 1, Magneton was a real beast. Really strong Defense and Special stat allowed it to basically wall anything that wasn't a Ground-type attack. In later generations with the Special split to Sp.Attack/Sp.Defense, Magneton was blessed with inheriting the Steel-type, which made it resist like everything in the universe :)P). In later generation, Magnezone was discovered, and was better than Magneton at everything except Speed. Even with Magnezone, I still love Magneton a lot more, just because I've loved Magneton for so long, and Magnezone sort of feels clunky to me.

It can distinguish the faintest of scents. It puts its sensitive sense of smell to use by helping pastry chefs in their work.

Y
Its sense of smell is 100 million times better than a human's, so even the faintest scent tells it about everything in the area. It's like it can see with its nose!
PokeDex Entries said:
Slurpuff is the Meringue Pokémon. Cacturne is based on a cactus, possibly the saguaro, and a scarecrow. Slurpuff appears to be based on a profiterole (cream puff), decorated in possibly a whipped cream or ganache and a sauce, topped with a maraschino cherry. It may also be based on other sweets or pastries, such as cupcakes or Japanese-style mille-feuille. Cupcakes are sometimes referred to as fairy cakes, which may be an inspiration for its type. Considering its lolling tongue, nose, paws, and ear-like circular extensions on its head, it may also be based on a dog. Slurpuff may be a combination of slurp and puff. It may also be a play on the word surplus. Slurpuff evolves from Swirlix when traded while holding a Whipped Dream.

I listed Slurpuff here, but I love Swirlix as well. Slurpuff may not be the strongest Fairy-type this generation, but he definitely is the cutest to me! Seriously he's freakin' adorable. I got Pokemon Y, but I was lucky my friend Sol gave me his Swirlix, and I evolved it. :D My strategy with Slurpuff, is I spam the move Fake Tears on my opponent, then use Draining Kiss (with a Big Root) to suck up tons and tons of HP. I also will give it Cotton Guard to max out it's Defense. So it's move library currently consists of: Draining Kiss/Flamethrower/Fake Tears/Cotton Guard.

These key collectors threaten any attackers by fiercely jingling their keys at them.

Y
It never lets go of a key that it likes, so people give it the keys to vaults and safes as a way to prevent crime.
PokeDex Entries said:
Klefki is the Key Ring Pokemon. Klefki is based on a keychain and the Pagan tradition of blaming fairies for the loss of small objects, like shoes and keys. Klefki is a combination of clef (French for key) or a corruption of kleptomaniac (in reference to its habit of collecting keys) and key. Klefki does not have any evolutions.

I just had to list Klefki here. Klefki is such a funny Pokemon to me; it's a key-ring! Literally, it's just this little key chain thing. That makes people second guess it, however, Klefki does have some strategies of his own! The biggest thing is that it has the ability "Prankster", so he's excellent at setting up Spikes quickly. He also has access to moves like Thunder Wave, Swagger, and Toxic to quickly give rival Pokemon a status problem. Kleki may not be the best Pokemon, but it looks good, and has a great strategy.

It launches kicks while spinning. If it spins at high speed, it may bore its way into the ground.

Black/White/Black2/White2/X
It fights while spinning like a top. The centrifugal force boosts its destructive power by 10.
PokeDex Entries said:
Dragonair is the Handstand Pokémon. Hitmontop is based on a top and a practitioner of capoeira. Hitmontop is a combination of hit, monster, and top (a reference to spinning tops and how it fights, by spinning on its head). The name is also related to Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan, both of which are parallel evolutions to it as of Generation II. Hitmontop is one of the tnree evolutions of Tyrouge. Tyrouge evolves into Hitmontop at Level 20, when it's Attack/Defense are EQUAL.

I loved Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee, and Hitmontop is no exception. On top of being a very strong Fighting type, in later gens, it gains access to it's ability Technician, which allows moves like Mach Punch/Bullet Punch, which boosts it's power by 50%. Not only are they priority moves, but the Technician boost make them more useful. Also great moves like Aerial Ace, Bulldoze, Low Sweep, etc. are also boosted, so there's so much possibility with Hitmontop. Also, I love how in X/Y, he does like Capoeira moves.
