With the current turmoil of the past few weeks, it's time there was some proper medium of level but critical discussion.
Those who are passionate about the issue are free to post here on their thoughts etc, PROVIDED they do not step over bounds and criticize another member's opinion without due grounds. "It's not a big deal" WILL NOT SUFFICE.
For myself, the concept of a Mario Party-themed forum/site/whatever is to create a friendly environment wherein people of ALL AGES can enjoy discussions about but not limited to Mario Party. I feel that it is important to RESPECT the emotional opinions of others, those from (for example) 2 years old to the older generation (parents and above). The forum is NOT a place for the quotidian bathos of crude, tasteless and generally offensive material, whether in the form of jokes, mulitmedia, or others. Just because something is not offensive to the American (and this narrowing of target is merely exemplifying my point, not condescending or stereotyping anyone) teenager, does not mean that others find it offensive. Sure, you may think that no-one watches you when you choose to involve yourself in this kind of content, but that is a grave misconception.
Of most concern to me is that the integrity and moral harmony of the forum is at risk of destruction. Opinions: sure, the American Bill of Rights gives you free speech, but the internet is a different medium with differing standards for different situations. This one here, I believe very strongly is to ensure the site remains family-friendly, and provides a pleasant environment to work with. So far, these last few weeks have shattered that image.
On to the matter of members leaving: little kids avoid the problem (i.e. run away). The adolescents (used here figuratively) see no problem, or they acknowledge the problem but do nothing about it. Those that take the courage to positively commit themselves to the resolution of a problem in general are the ones who show the highest levels of maturity, and it is those people who are truly worthy of staff positions.
While this may seem like the ramblings of a fool, as I quote Hamlet, Act 2 Scene 2 (or 3, depending on version of the play): "Though this be madness, yet there is method in't." Take serious consideration into formulating your opinions, and post carefully. Heed the warning at the top of the post: do not criticize with undue reason.
