The final course of Lightning Cup in Mario Kart 8. Rainbow Road returns from Mario Kart 64 from Nintendo 64. As with other retro tracks, it's largely the same. The biggest change is that it now takes place above the city, and the road tiles are different. The track is now divided into three sections, making it one lap, rather than three laps in the original version. Chomps now bounce on the track, rather than going against you to send you up in the air.

The final track of Mario Kart 8 looks gorgeous! It's really beautiful, much better than the original Rainbow Road. Unfortunately, the only negative part was that it was reduced to one lap, and I suppose it's understandable considering the track was very long (2,000 meters per lap) and would take up to 5+ minutes to finish.

In my opinion it is a lot better than the special cup Rainbow Road.

I totally agree with you. I hate the Special Cup Rainbow Road. However, this Rainbow Road is awesome. I played it for the first time in this game annd I like it very much, The only drawback of this track is that it's too short. 3 laps would be too much but in my opinion 1 lap is not enough. 2 laps would've been perfect.
