I might join to this. I don't have anything yet, but at least I have until Wednesday to set everything up...

I mean, all you really have to do is follow my guide that is linked in the first post. It only takes like 15 mins to setup.

And a note: I don't think Mupen would be good for the community. It has some emulation issues(models flash, items are weird, many minigames render awfully, desyncs, etc). It would be best to use Project64 AQZ because that emulator never desyncs and many things show up as they would on a real N64.

Thinks like which game version to use can be discussed before playing, shouldn't take too long to correct if need be. Which emulator can also be figured out on Skype where it'll be easier to communicate.

Also it's legal to link emulators, idk why you're against it, but...
Yes, but if discussion on this can be done on the Skype group for example, I would just rather have it done there.

I had an idea for the skype group, but I decided to post it here. It might convince some people to join, who knows.

So I played an online match of Mario Party 2 with a guy I met in the skype group. He mentioned that he archives the results of his matches, and he did do so with ours.

I then thought; could we have an "official" leaderboard, to keep track of player stats? However, I don't think everytime a match is held via the group, their stats should be added to the leaderboard. It wouldn't be fair to other people in the group that want to play, maybe because of timezones, or some other issue.

So maybe, we could have "official" games. Everytime an official game is hosted, the player stats are added to the leaderboard. Official games, will have a set time. That way, everyone has a fair chance to add their stats to the leaderboard. The time should be set to comply with the majority of everyone's timezones in the group.

What does everyone think of this idea?

That'd be me  ;D

I'd be willing to setup and organize a Google Docs Spreadsheet to post the results publicly. I really like the idea of this, we just need a lot of people if we want to make it successful!

The spreadsheet would be divided by game (Mario Party 1-7). An overall Leaderboard with every possible category that is kept track of by each game (# blue spaces, happening spaces, etc...) could be maintained as well.

I've been keeping stats with me and my 3 other friends who play regularly and so far it's been very interesting seeing the results, like who tends to get more happening spaces and who's the best minigamer!

The only problem I see is that it would be biased, of course, to those who have played more games than others...but that could be sorted out.

Let me know what you guys think. Tell your friends, family, pets...we need as many participants as possible! This could really grow into something cool.

I love this idea! I've always been addicted to statistics in general and Mario Party is no exception. I used to keep records of every trackable stat in the game way back, somewhat like what Racerboy mentioned. Count me in.
