Avoiding any traps...

3.) Im older than most,
It really does show,
I don't participate much,
But I do direct the fun.

4.) I have always been there,
Just recently disappearing,
I am a generic character,
And I can be at times a pain.

5.) I can be seen in several locations,
Mostly in blazing heat spots,
Watch out for my pointy parts.

6.) All summer long,
To keep things new,
A way to keep cool.

7.) I am a mushroom,
An item to use,
But which direction do I chose?

I believe that #6 is "Glacier" and #7 is Reverse". What might the others be?
