These are my Top 30 favourite characters designed by Rareware, (or the original Rare preceding that).
This does not count for characters designed after the Microsoft sale.
NOTE: The only Rareware game I have played is Donkey Kong 64, I have limited experience of the Donkey Kong Country series.
Please understand if I missed a big character.

Cool you're doing another character survivor. There's some characters on the poll I don't know from Rareware, I'll have to do some research for them. I voted Klungo as I didn't find him interesting in the first Banjo-Kazooie (I never played the sequel so I'm not aware if they've done better with him in that game, sorry).

Gruntilda I believe is one of the options that deserves to win, I really liked her character, she served as a an interesting villain with her rhymes. One of the Kongs would be nice too.

I voted Enguarde the Swordfish. Out of all the ones remaining I chose him though he's my favorite animal buddy from the Donkey Kong series. I like most of the others not eliminated more than him.
