Kanto Starters

Upon starting the game, after receiving your Kalos starter, you will receive a Kanto starter from Professor Sycamore. Which starter are you planning to start with?

For Pokémon Y, I'll start with Bulbasaur or Charmander. For Pokémon X, depending on who I get in Y, maybe Bulbasaur if not chosen or Squirtle.

Though Charmander is my favorite, I'm going with Bulbasaur since I'm already going to have Fennekin for a Fire-type, plus Bulbasaur's Poison typing will serve as a nice early Fairy-type counter.

I'm going with Bulbasaur as it's my favorite Kanto starter and I know I'm selecting Fennekin as my starter. I like to balance my Pokémon teams type-wise.

I'm getting squirtle so I can have all three starter types at the beginning of the game with the Torchic from the download event.

I guess I might take Charmander, always liked this Pokemon in all his Evolved forms since the beginning, so my choice is obvious.

The best thing is obviously to choose a Pokemon you think you would like as well as when this said Pokemon will evolve because each of them actually evolve twice. I go with their appearence usually. Also, you could choose to go with types advantages and all of those said things...

I'll probably get Charmander because I guess you'll get the Mega Stone for the Kanto Starter you chose.
If not I might choose Bulbasaur.

I'm choosing Bulbasaur, just because I chose him on Leafgreen and before on Pokemon Red Version.

I'd probably get Bulbasaur because Venusaur is powerful and doesn't stack weaknesses like Charizard does.

...that is, unless I choose a different Kalos starter.
