Judas doesn't have any particular motivations other than to break his acquaintances out of jail. Richard is married to the job. A Lineage and Legacies skit reveals that he's been having Dalen forward all his paperwork, and he's been staying up late every night to get it done. Even though they're on a journey to save the world, and have been on another planet for most of it.

Judas wins here, because he learns about his betrayal of Stahn, and this change was the reason that he sided with the rest of the heroes to defeat Elrane and Fortuna.

The conclusion: Richard is one great character, but Judas is arguably a more interesting character from Aselia for his numerous character traits.
