Announced by Koei Tecmo (Wednesday, June 10, 2015)! A port of the Hyrule Warriors game from the Wii U version. Features the King of the Red Lions and Tetra (Wind Waker characters), and can be transferred to the Wii U version. Exclusive to 3DS. Release: Q1 2016 (Worldwide).

More Info

I always wanted to try out Hyrule Warriors (being a fan of the warriors series) and this is perfect for me!!

Also Tetra and the King Of Red Lions are exclusive to this version :p (Unless you have both versions this will remain exclusive because you can transfer them to the Wii U if you have the 3DS version :p)

Hey, I was just about to make this. Anyway it seems pretty interesting, especially considered that we're just 6 days from E3. I'm so happy for the Wind Waker love! Now that I think about it, could the game have a supporting focus on Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks in the settings, story, and characters, and will this 3DS version be more of an expansion for the WiiU, or an independent game that happens to connect with the Wii U.
"Feel the power of their MAAGIC!" (It's a series in-joke)

Also Wii U owners shouldn't be obligated to buy the 3DS version to get Tetra and King :p I think they should be released in a WindWaker pack for Hyrule Warriors U (which will be already included in the 3DS version :p) and the ones with both versions could get the DLC for free :D

EDIT: Could it be?

Once moved, I can fix the format for the first post of this topic.

Yeah do that please cuz my format is pretty bad XD
All fixed. But once it's out of the E3 2015 board, and any info gets revealed afterwards, like the release date info, I can't change that unless I'm a moderator, which I'm not.

I think I'll get this. Tetra and King of Red Lions(forget the hype train, this is the hype boat) are great new additions. I don't have the Wii U version, so I guess this is my chance.
Good use of the word boat instead of train, XD!

It turns out that Hyrule Warrior's popularity with Zelda fans was the reason why a handheld iteration of the action game is in development.

Speaking with Famitsu (via Nintendo Everything), producer Yosuke Hayashi cited the "positive reception" of Hyrule Warriors and Zelda fans calling for a similar game on the Nintendo 3DS as the motivator to begin working on it shortly after the Wii U game released.

During the early days of Hyrule Warriors Legends, the development team decided to feature The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker on the 3DS game, since it had previously been left out on the Wii U due to the difficulty of integrating its unique look with that of Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and others. Because it is a different experience and features a new style, Hyrule Warriors Legends on 3DS will be more of an epilogue to Hyrule Warriors on Wii U, picking up where the story of its console counterpart left off.
In addition to a new story and art style, Hayashi teased planned new character additions coming to the handheld version in addition to the King of Hyrule and Tetra.

I can’t go into details yet, but we plan to add new character(s) [can mean one or several] other than Tetra and King of Hyrule," Hayashi said. "There are fan favorites and surprising characters in the game, so I’d be happy if you kept guessing who will join the fight while waiting for follow-up information."

Hyrule Warriors Legends' development is about 60 percent complete and targets a release window early in the first half of 2016.

So Hyrule Warriors Legends is a sequel? Well, as long as it has a new story, I'm upgrading it to insta-buy!

I still want Linkle regardless.
Well Koei Tecmo did say that they noticed the female Link's reception and thought they probably would've included her, and there's that tease with the crossbow, so her inclusion is likely. Since I've heard of her, I picture the female Link having sort of a Lucina-esque relationshipto Link's Marth/Chrom (I have read somewhere she views herself as a pseudo-little sister). It would be pretty cool if she has Water, or even somehow Dark weapons to complete the quintet with her male counterpart.
