I think Toad should. He was the best host. But if he were to be playable again, I would like Tumble to be host again. Not another new random character.

I think there is a need for the host to have been firmly established in the Marioverse. So Rosalina, Toadsworth etc. are decent choices.
MC Ballyhoo was a joke and doesn't deserve another title.
If, however, the rumors of an adventure based MP become reality, I would hope that the hosts represent the many types of Mushroom Kingdom residents, from Goombas to Shy Guys, etc. (a la MP4)

Maybe Toadsworth or someone from MP4... It's hard to think of a host since it normally changes every game. 
Just make it like Toad or something Toad related, like Rosalina needs to fall in a ditch and MC Ballyhoo needs to go with her.
I think E.Gadd should be a host. He's been in a lot of Mario games already.
