What was the very first thing you did when you started this game?
Apart from starting the download for Wii Party U (the free game I chose), I went straight into Battle mode to see if it really was a great as it's precedents. Unfortunately I didn't learn 100% because it was against CPUs, so afterwards, I went to complete all the 50cc cups.

Of course, I did all the 50cc cups and unlock vehicle parts and characters.

Did Time Trials for both Mushroom Cup and Shell Cup. Alone, no ghosts.

Then I went on with the 32 race count competition, getting a lot of coins. Then working on Grand Prix, going to unlock content.

The first thing I did was compete in the 50cc Grand Prix. I did the Mushroom and Flower cups because I wanted to try the new courses before trying the retro courses out.

Played a VS Race against my brother. Then started playing Grand Prix 50cc.

150cc race on the Mushroom Cup with family. From there we kept playing all the cups.

Went straight into 50cc Mushroom Cup and went up from there.

So I've started with the cups in order from 50cc to Mirror, did all of them the same day to finish with 1-star ranking at the least. Besides though I played online a bit but yeah I did mostly focused on unlocking stuffs at the beginning.
