Favorite Classic Sonic Game

Sonic 3 & Knuckles was the best of the classic Sonic series. Just everything with it was perfect: stages, characters, bosses, story, etc. Even though all the classic Sonic games were great, this one stood out for me.
Sonic 3&K is my second favorite game for the same reasons.
But I must admit I've only played the '3' part for Wii VC.
But it's still a good game too.

Sonic CD and Sonic 3 and Knuckles.

I enjoyed Sonic CD because of the time changing gimmick and the music. I also like the art style that the game has.

Sonic 3 and Knuckles was the best because of its creativity, unique levels, and the feel of the game make it one of the best Sonic games. (Bonus points for Hyper Sonic)

I'd say my favorite Classic Sonic game would probably be Sonic CD.

That game was amazing (even with the sporadic level design).

But then again, it is the only Classic Sonic game I've played. :/
Well, except for Sonic Spinball and Sonic 3D Blast (both of which I still loved).

I'm certain that if I had Sonic 3 & Knuckles, I would love it too. But the problem is that I don't own a Genesis and there aren't many ways to get the whole combination thing between the games to work (I'm pretty sure it is possible in ROMs though...).

Ironically enough, I think Sonic CD might have actually been my first console game, even though I played it on the PC. And I played Sonic Spinball via Sega Smash Pack (which I also played through the PC). Sonic 3D Blast was at a friend's house (I always wondered what the title of the game was since I played it, and for what system too! It was a complete mystery to me at the time since I didn't really see the title... nor know what the heck I was playing it on).

ROMs of the combination exist, I assume the dumping and disassembly was done when the cartridges were locked on.
