Do You Consider Car Racing A Sport?

First, I didn't know if this belonged in General Discussion or here, so sorry if I put it in the wrong section.

When I think of the term "sport" I think of physical and mental strain on the body but car racing has none of that. Then again, I have heard it is pretty physically strenuous. You're in a hot car for hours, wearing a body suit and a helmet, you also have to mantain control of a car that is going really fast.

So, I don't really know but what are your thoughts about it?

It is a sport, you get some retards that think otherwise but they are the sort of people that think American Football is the greatest sport on Earth too.
or hockey in Canada's case. =P

And to answer the topic, it is a sport. Like cook said very well, it requires concentration and, being in a car for 300 idk and more laps can make you lose some weight (I read that somewhere lol), I think it's due to the special clothes they wear haha.

I don't consider it a sport simply because I follow the Olympic Committee rules about what exactly a "sport" is, in which case is the use of body and mind and not from electronics or heavy machinery.

Difference being that Hockey is a good sport, nothing on Football though.

I think it is a sport because it requires skill
Chess isn't a sport though.
