I had a feeling the price would drop. But where are the games and are they free?

I think the games for it will not come to the E-Shop until August 12. If you have the 3DS now, you'll need to log into E-Shop at least once in order to do so. If you don't have the 3DS, and get it after the price drop, then you will not be able to get the free games. The GBA titles are free and exclusive to those who bought it before price cut and log into E-Shop before Friday, August 12, 2011.

Wait. I'm a bit confused.

We're supposed to download the NES and GBA games BEFORE August 12th or we can't get them?(just want to clarify).

And if that's the case, I'm guessing when they update the eShop on Friday, we'll be able to do this.
No, you can download them after August 12, provided that you log into E-Shop at least once before August 12. If you get the 3DS after the price cut becomes effective on August 12, you won't be able to download the free games.

That was a cheap marketing move but getting the free games makes up for it I guess. Looks like the PlayStationVita won't be able to have competition with the 3DS when the price goes down.

We're getting 20 free games. How does that not make you insanely happy.

Fair enough. :p

@Berry/Justin - two questions: (1) What is the slated Vita release price, and (2) not everyone wants some of the classic games? :p

I didn't notice it was 20 until now. lol The good thing about it is that we get them before anyone who didn't have a 3DS before the date and all FREE. WOw now I'm happy. The prices Kinetic said are true which will blow the handheld competition... If SOny tries to get their price as low as the new 3DS price they'll lose a lot of money.

The 3DS wasn't selling enough and Nintendo realized the price was way too high which I agree with. Iwata took the blame and gave and took 50% pay cut which I though as a really honorable thing to do, you don't see business do that in the US.

If SOny tries to get their price as low as the new 3DS price they'll lose a lot of money.

The difference is that I would buy a PS Vita for $250 but I wouldn't buy a 3DS for $250.

Yeah, the Vita will actually be worth $250.

So I have the 3DS and I need some friends. :P Send me a pm if you want to be friends.

And this is what I said in my blog yesterday:

So I bought the 3DS today along with Ocarina. It's a cool handheld (and its not nearly as bad looking as I made it sound), its just lacking in games. I'm sure I'll have fun with the games included as well as Ocarina, but outside of that, not too much to do. I'm pretty excited for the 20 free games though and this Christmas will definetly be one for the 3DS.
