If they have a commercial for it then the joking aspect is out the window. :P

Anyways why would they name it "2DS"? This looks like something that should be out before the 3DS...

Obviously this was made to appeal to people afraid of their children having 3D. The drastically different design also makes it so people can't confuse this model for the 3D capable ones.

This can't be real, err... can it?
This looks pretty dumb though.

If you guys didn't know the target audience is probably for younger kids who shouldn't use 3D in the first place.

My only concern is that it looks so bulky and it doesn't fit in your pocket.

Besides that, cool.

Wait, can you just turn the 3D effect off?

I know it's mainly for young kids, that's obvious.
I just don't know the point cuz you can easily disable 3D with parental controls which disables them permanently (regardless if you switch the 3D switch) until you turn parental controls off. Maybe they want something easier I guess.

You can, but this gives parents peace of mind. There are many people who are simply afraid of their children having 3D, so they will not buy a 3DS period. With this model however, the message is being sent that you never have to worry about 3D at all.

Therefore you'll buy ANOTHER 3DS just to have a feature disabled PERMANENTLY? That's pretty much being money hungry to me

I don't think this version is intended for people who already own one. :P

I still find it dumb. To buy a system just because it disables a feature on another system permanently is not a good reason to make a new system

Oh, I'm not defending it. :P But I don't really have anything against it either. But it will be cheaper, so you have that.
