Title: Mario games you hate

OK, I know we are big Mario-game fans but are there any Mario games that you can't stand? I haven't played Hotel Mario but it looks so... stupid!

Any Mario Galaxy tbh, never was a fan of those and they bored me to death. Sorry to any big fan of those, but that's just how it is for me lol.

DDR Mario makes me cringe, not a fan of any of the sport spin-offs, Sticker Star was lackluster, I don't enjoy playing Mario Kart Super Circuit, and think that's it off the top of my head.

All's I know I hated Wii NSMB. Haven't even played 2, Luigi U or Wii U.
Funny enough I think the DS one is the weakest :P

I absolutely love Wii and Luigi U/NSMB U due to the multiplayer. Some of the most fun i've had playing co-op.

why is this in general gaming

i guess mario kart wii wasn't great. a lot of the newer games seem to be void of any substantial changes but i haven't played them, they just don't look impressive.

Exactly this, I feel like there should not have been a second Mario Galaxy cuz both games are utterly the same.

This is true, but some Mario games are fun and not as boring as the galaxy sequels.

The games I like less as of now are mostly the adventure-style Mario games, I can't seem to play them much lately. I do not 'hate' them as a full, but I definitely do not have a lot of fun like I used to have before with those. It's probably because that I despite playing them as a whole for now. They can't equal a Mario Kart or Mario Party to me.

Hotel Mario - Duh... It looks like crap, and isn't very fun at all. Very dull and boring.
Mario Kart Wii - Lol, there isn't much wrong with this game, I'm just not good at it. I find it annoying and aggravating. ;D
Dr. Mario Games - Dull, uninteresting, not to mention I'm not good at puzzle games.
New Super Mario Bros. U - By far, my least favorite in the series. Just because it's in HD doesn't change the fact that it doesn't really deliver anything new, and is really familiar.

Mario's Time Machine and Mario is Missing. Two words: They're educational.

If i'm posting here I might as well give my opinion on the games that other people mentioned.

New Super Mario Bros U: It's your regular Mario platformer. Only thing that's different that the control is different for the Gamepad, you can play it without a TV in one player, and enhanced graphics. Basically a heavily enhanced version of the original SMB.

Dr. Mario: This is also a decent game, but it depends if you like puzzles.

Super Mario Sunshine: This is a mixed opinion thing. Some people liked it, and others hated it. I happen to be one of the ones that like it. It's not as bad as much people expect.

Hotel Mario:... Oh boy. This was actually a ok game. I played it a while back and before that I watched a review of it that made it look like a decent game. here it is just in case: Disgrace to Gaming: Hotel Mario review (CD-I part 6) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZwF7E3arxo#) I am not kidding. it's not the worst Mario game ever. But not the best either. it lands in the middle for me.

Hotel Mario is the worst ever. I don't think it can get any worse than that. Mario is Missing was pretty bad too.

Anyone who thinks Super Mario Sunshine is a bad game needs to play more games.

Fine with anyone thinking it was a disappointment but its not a bad game at all.

I know it's subjective and all, but I honestly had more fun playing Super Mario Sunshine than playing Super Mario Galaxy.

It's not the best Mario game out there, but definitely not the worst.

The reason why a lot of people hate it is because it wasn't the console version we were used to seeing and the major lack of multiplayer. I did some research, and there was really one multiplayer thing: You had to have a physical board, with some characters to move. The GBA was nothing more but a  die to roll. If you want to play a good portable MP game, try MPDS. It sticks more to the original format.

Edit: For those who want to see it:

I agree with you. I really enjoyed playing Sunshine but I gave up playing Galaxy after some time. That was a few years ago though so I really can't judge it for being bad; it just didn't keep my interest long enough.

Yes, I have played them and I still have the SNES ports. I can revisit them if you want but there's really no replay value for these games.

Edit: It also got a bad reputation after the Angry Video Game Nerd reviewed it.

Anyone who thinks Super Mario Sunshine is a bad game needs to play more games.

I think it's a bad MARIO game. Does this mean I'm not a gaming expert?

When I expected a sequel to Mario 64, I wanted something that stuck to the formula but also introduced exciting new ways to move around and solve puzzles. While the "secret" stages in Sunshine accomplished this for me, the rest of the game falls really flat on its ass. Most of the episodes are either "clean the goop", "get 8 red coins", or "do the secret stage"; very repetitive nature and it gets old fast. Some episodes that have large amounts of old-school platforming, such as "The Caged Shine Sprite" or "The Runaway Ferris Wheel", do well for me, even with the FLUDD gimmick. I thought the biggest kick in the balls was the Blue Coin hunt. Nintendo pretty much wasted 24 Shine Sprites that could have been dedicated to Episodes or Side-quests, and I really think they got lazy in that regard. Collecting 100 Gold Coins and 8 Red Coins is enough coin hunting for me.

Anyways, for my Mario games I HATE, it would have to be Sunshine, Galaxy, SMB2USA, NSMBWii, and Hotel Mario. And no, I'm not hating on Hotel Mario because of the AVGN or because of the cheesy cut-scenes, I'm hating it because the gameplay sucks big time.

Why are so many people hating on Galaxy? They are the 2nd and 3rd best video games of all time in my opinion. As for games I hate:
Sunshine, Mario Bros 3, and M & L Dream Team.

I can't really think of a Mario game that I dislike. Pretty much all of the Mario games I know about have some kind of charm to them, even when they're bad. It just goes to show how much attention Nintendo pays to the quality of the Mushroom Kingdom's stuff, considering there are indeed a few lackluster titles.
I can't dislike Mario games that much because they usually aren't that annoying either...Except the freaking baby crying. That gets annoying fast, though I can tolerate it since the platforming in Yoshi's Island games tends to be good.

Why are so many people hating on Galaxy? They are the 2nd and 3rd best video games of all time in my opinion.
I know it's your opinion, but let me explain why I don't like it. Then again this is simply MY opinion lol.

The game is graphically beautiful. I won't deny it, that part of the game was well done. Though, other than that, I can't think of many stuff I really liked it from it. The new characters, let me be honest, are okay at most parts, but nothing really memorable. Yes, Rosalina has been in several games since then. Though, I believe she is a really boring character, she's bland and ''almost'' like a copy of Peach. I'm happy they added one more female character to the Mario games, but her design and boring personality brings nothing exceptional. Lumas are likable and cute.

The musical compositions were great, but I could easily find myself bored of listening the soundtracks after a while. I can hardly remember a soundtrack that I really liked. While with some other Mario games, even after so many years, I still remember them and when I listen to them, it still feels fresh. Does this apply to every soundtrack of the game? Absolutely not, but I hardly find something of my liking.

The gravity thing wasn't really my thing and the controls to me were meh. I was never a fan of the Wii controllers then again. When I can play with my good old GCN controller, I do not question it twice. So, Wii controllers + gravity mechanics of this game = no to me.

The story gives you that feeling of deja vu. Collect a certain amount of stars to save your beloved princess kidnapped by Bowser. Nothing of interest here to me. Oh yeah, but this time we're saving Peach in Space lol. Nah, but really. I know most series follow a certain pattern, like in Zelda games you do dungeons to gain power or whatever, in Pokemon you defeat gym leaders and then take on the Champion league and etc, but many times you have a twist or something that actually makes the games standout. I think a bit more of development on that part of the game could have helped. Also, Rosalina, no, just no.

In terms of level designs, some are great, others are more forgettable. Though, the linear aspect destroyed a lot of the fun to me. A bit more of freedom, discovering and exploring wouldn't have hurt at all. You simply go from point A to point B, get a star and that's it. If I want to play a linear Mario game, I could simply just get a Mario Bros game and it'd do the job fine.

So yeah, I know I had more to say, but I forgot it lol.

So here's my little selection! I know most of thems are old,but it still mario games  :P
It's my personnal opinion,don't forget!

Mario Bros:
Ok,i do agree that the concept is good and also it's an old game but...
The gameplay is too bad... You slip a lot when you play and the characters are really too hard to control!
It's a bit fun but it's not really good for me  :mute:

Mario & Yoshi:
Maybe the most boring puzzle ever. It's not really addictive,it's just boring,it's not even fun....  :mute:

And the final one, even more personal than the others!!

Mario Golf Games:
I played World Tour,it looks really good but... The game is just annoying for me!
It's not against the game itself but his goal. Playing golf... And im bad in golf i think and look boring anyway  :-\

So here was my 3 worst favorites mario games i could think of!

IT'S ONLY MY OPINION, SO DON'T HATE ME!
