MEGA EGG!!!

It's an egg with a Mega Mushroom attached to it :P
I'm hoping to get this one when it comes out!
...or around there, if I start saving my money a little more...

Yeah that looked great.
This game looked like a mixture of Yoshi's Story and Yoshi's Island.

This game better have better 100% completion requirements. DS was atrocious when it comes to getting 100%.

Wow, a new Yoshi game was announced and another one! This is a great year for Yoshi already. I am very excited for both of these Yoshi games, but Yarn Yoshi seems a little more interesting. This game seems like they mixed Yoshi's Story and one of the Yoshi's Islands and the graphics of a recent Mario game. I hope a plethora of new things are added.

2013 year of the Luigi?

More like year of the Yoshi!

I am absolutely amazed by this Nintendo Direct now!

I hope they introduce new babies. I liked DS's added strategy by using the different babies.
That and I really just want to see Baby Toad.

Post by: Brookelas on April 18, 2013, 06:54:10 PM
I hope they make 8 worlds this time, not 5. Each world should also introduce a new baby. I also think that compared to a New Super Mario Bros. platformer, this game has a lot more storyline, but why not make it something more like Super Paper Mario? All intense and it shows clips of Kamek in the castle and such?
Title: Re: Yoshi's Island 3DS
Post by: TheFrozenFairy on April 18, 2013, 07:34:20 PM
Yeah, the more worlds the better. More babies like Yoshi's Island DS would be cool to see. I'd especially like to see Baby Daisy since she is the only baby not to appear in a Yoshi game yet. Baby Yoshi would look funny riding an adult one but I'd like to see that too. New babies like Toad and Waluigi with their own unique abilities to assist the Yoshies.

Don't think I'll be getting this. Looks kinda fun I guess though. By the way, even though it's possible the game could have a Holiday 2013 release (wouldn't be surprised if it was 2014 due to the insane amount of 3DS games coming out this year), no release date was given. In fact, Iwata states that the release info will be given at a later date.

Exactly as planned! I predicted that the Yoshi series would return with the Nintendo 3DS 2 days before the announcement. Now, both Y222 and I are excited about this game when there's another one (http://mariopartylegacy.com/forum/index.php?topic=11922.0) in development. Yes, I will be getting this when it's launched. ;D

I'm actually not overly excited about this, probably because it doesn't appear to bring anything really innovative after YIDS. No, the giant eggs don't count - NSMB did it first :p

Is this game developed by Artoon?
Arzest feels new Artoon.

ARTOON SUCKS. This company has ruined two of Yoshi games. Yoshi's Island DS has bad music, bad control and bad designs.

I hope music isn't change again. I want remix.

No, Artoon is defunct. However, Arzest is making Yoshi's New Island, and Arzest has people who previously worked for Artoon (they formed Arzest).

I didn't think Yoshi's Island DS was bad but then again I don't hold Yoshi's Island to be that great of a game. Not deserving of the Super Mario World name. I'd probably like that game a lot better if it wasn't called Super Mario World 2.

Update: Game now has a release date for North America only! Instead of Spring 2014, it's coming late Winter, on Friday, March 14, 2014!

Quote from: Press Release
Nintendo has great Nintendo 3DS games planned for early 2014 to keep the momentum going. Yoshi's New Island launches March 14 in stores and in the Nintendo eShop. The game is being produced by Takashi Tezuka, the creative director of the original Yoshi's Island for Super NES. Yoshi reunites with Baby Mario in a gorgeous landscape to help him to safety. Flutter jumps, ground pounds and egg throws all return, along with some new actions that use the unique features of Nintendo 3DS.
Screens here (http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=220216)!

Cool that's fairly next to my birthday. Nintendo always seems to release a game at that time. 2 years ago it was Kid Icarus Uprising, and last year it was Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon. I know because I got both as B-Day gifts. :P

When I first saw that there was news for a new Yoshi's Island game, I was kinda underwhelmed. The game doesn't seem like it introduce much that's new (unless I missed something)...If there's good level design, I might get it, but as of now, I have higher priorities on my to-get list.
There is one thing that interests me about the Press Release though...."some new actions that use the unique features of Nintendo 3DS." This is a little light of hope for the game; maybe there will be new abilities to add innovation to the game?

Here's the tentative box-art:

I think it looks nice. The Nintendo Network logo raises suspicions, though. Might be the standard Miiverse functionality or possibly more than that.

Pretty sure the pretty much slap that Nintendo Network logo on most of their boxes now.

EDIT: Looked at all my boxes and seems that I'm wrong, since not all of them had it. :P

My guess is that it's probably for Miiverse, or leaderboards. I doubt that there is online play in this game. Can they even integrate Miiverse into 3DS games like they do for Wii U games?

I'm not sure. Probably not, in a sense that for Wii U games, you see all the posts pop up on your screen at times, but 3DS doesn't do that, so. So probably not actually integrated, but still can (manually) and post content. Content probably will not show up mid-game. So I think there may be something that's not just Miiverse capability. We probably have to wait and see. I don't think any major 3DS games have been released other than Kirby's Triple Deluxe for Japan since the Miiverse update for 3DS back in December 2013.

Well, there was an IGN article of which I read earlier today stating that this game is just not suited for older fans. For new players, it may be worth it, but all us old fans will not enjoy it as much. Only get it if you really want to play a Yoshi game or you got money to burn.

Or, you can just wait for Yarn Yoshi for Wii U.

Giant Metal Shy Guys in the game - eat to make Giant Metal Eggs that roll on the ground.
Also, Yoshi can "swim" with the egg. :P

Underwater Yoshi levels... seems weird (Not really - Yoshi could swim in Yoshi's Story and I've been playing it on my channel recently).

The bundle is confirmed for North America!

Quote from: Press Release
Launching on the same day as Yoshi's latest video game adventure, Yoshi's New Island, is a green Yoshi Edition Nintendo 3DS XL system that features an image of Yoshi on the front, as well as a series of cute Yoshi eggs on the back. The system will launch on March 14 at a suggested retail price of $199.99.

Yoshi's New Island is the next game in the charming Yoshi's Island series, and the first on Nintendo 3DS. In the beautiful side-scrolling platforming adventure, players take control of Yoshi as he carries Baby Mario and helps him reunite with his kidnapped brother. Along the way, Yoshi will throw eggs that he lays, including the massive Mega Eggdozers, and experience a variety of inventive transformations with unique controls.

Yoshi's New Island also features helpful items like the Flutter Wings, which let Yoshi fly through the air. This item is great for players who have trouble completing a level, and ensures that people of all ages and skill levels can enjoy the game. The Yoshi's New Island game launches separately on March 14 at a suggested retail price of $39.99.

How far is everyone? I'm currently on 4-7. Everything before that is 100%.

The game is a lot better than I expected, but I also went in with really low expectations. Music was attrocias when I first started. It has gotten better as the game goes on.

I'm at like 2-5 right now, and just like you, 100% everything before.

Game is really enjoyable, even though the media seems mixed about it. Gameplay is fine as it is expected. Visuals are great, too, but for music, I'll have to agree. Most tracks were awful, few good ones, but that's kind of expected from Arzest.
