Nice, another one, this time featuring Wii U games. I wonder if they'll be announcing release dates for upcoming games that were supposed to be out before the end of March.

Wait has Pikmin 3's release date been confirmed yet?
If it hasn't then it will probably be announced in this.

Well, Pikmin 3 has a vague release date. It's Spring 2013 or Quarter 2 of 2013.

The next Nintendo Direct is tomorrow at 6AM PST. The focus will be on both Wii U and 3DS games.

Maybe they will announce something to combat the PlayStation announcement on the 20th?

I see more of Yarn Yoshi (possibly an official name) and some of the Wind Waker HD.
I don't expect any of Mario Kart U or Super Mario 3D or the new Legend of Zelda title.
Maybe a release date and Box Art for Game & Wario.
More of Pikmin 3 and also possibly a box art or release date.

Post by: DeadlyxImpulse on February 14, 2013, 01:52:38 PM
Some great games were announced, but some things just got me aggravated...

Seriously a remake of DKC returns for the 3ds...
I want a new DK game with a different story and different gameplay (maybe introducing new characters).

That Mario and Donkey Kong literally make no sense to me, and DK is not a playable character...

To sum it up, most of the games I want to play is on the 3DS (still don't have any plans of getting one).

You've obviously never played the series before then. The series mostly focuses around the minis Mario created in his toy factory, and Donkey Kong usually wants something that he never got the chance to get, so he gets stubborn and does something bad.

This Nintendo Direct had many awesome games announced in it, and mostly starring Luigi, that makes this one so amazing!!! (Luigi is my second favorite Nintendo Character).

2013 already looks like it's going to be an amazing year!

They should dedicate each year to a different Mario character lol.

So excited for the new games...

Also, a dumb question: How often are nintendo directs?

That might be too much, lol. Though maybe Yoshi has a chance.

And Nintendo Directs usually happen on average, once every two months.

That is very likely for the Fire Emblem, for Europe, but all the other things, absolutely not. This Nintendo Direct has nothing to do with the Wii U as it is for the Nintendo 3DS only. There could be announcements for Miiverse integration for 3DS, though.

Japanese Nintendo Direct Luigi Special 2 (http://www.nintendo.co.jp/nintendo_direct/index.html)

Apparently, the Japanese are getting a full-on Nintendo Direct featuring Luigi, 3DS, Wii U First Party and the update for next week which likely includes the improvements in load times.

Aww man. Hopefully we could get some of these goodies sometime soon as official statements here in NA (Europe too!).

I love these moments! It's the night before a Nintendo Direct and all I have to do is go to sleep and wake up for stream. Of course, I'm not expecting tons of announcements, but they are exciting regardless.

It's like a mini-E3. Woo!

And what was announced? A new Yoshi game for 3DS. :D

Wow, that E3 was amazing. It was great seeing news on Dream Team & World Tour. Also loved that they showed off MP 3DS & LttP2 for the first time. It was also nice to hear more about New Super Luigi U, the April Wii U System Update, Wii U VC and release dates for Game & Wario and Pikmin 3 (which was also shown on NOA's twitter instead of the direct). Too bad there was no release date for World Tour, but at least we got one for Dream Team and Mario & Donkey Kong. Maybe it comes out in September?

I really liked that Nintendo Direct. The best parts were Mario Party 3DS and Mario and Luigi: Dream Team. I thought Satoru Iwata with the two in Mario and Luigi costumes entertaining. probably one of the best Nintendo Directs ever.

I've got a feeling that Mario Golf: World Tour is going to be released either during the summer or holiday 2013. That's because of all the other Nintendo game's release dates.

Yeah, we know it will be the summer. Just no specifics right now. Hopefully September because we have DKCR 3D & Minis on the Move in May, New Leaf in June, Dream Team in July (Europe)/August (US), XY in October and ALttP2 & MP 3DS will probably be November/December.

Pretty much. I guess it focuses on the games that we already know. Maybe the Summer Wii U update, too.

But guys, that's not all. Not only do we have a Nintendo Direct tomorrow, but we have yet another, solely on Wii U and its software for Fall 2013 at the start of June, before E3 2013 begins.

About the Wii U games coming out later this year? Yes.

And yes, it's all-in-one in a single broadcast. They don't want to have too many Directs at the same day, so it's best that they only did one with all of the games featured in it. And they may also release trailers for a separate game featured in it.

Can't wait for the next ND! I'm really excited for 3D Mario, Mario Kart & SSB4! If the first 2 come out this holiday, that would be great to combat PS4/Xbox One!

Also hoping we'll get news for games like Wii Party U, Mario & Sonic, more on Pikmin 3 & Wind Waker HD. Also would like to see more news on games like Wii Fit U, Yarn Yoshi, Yoshi's Islanbd 3DS and others, even though I wont be getting them (could be good for others).

Some 3DS news I hope for is just more on upcoming games. Wouldn't be surprised if there isn't any new 3DS games announced for 2013.

So the Nintendo Direct will pretty much replace the press conference that would have aired two or three hours later.

The NWR article brought up an interesting point. The April 17 ND that focused on the 3DS was essentially the 3DS portion of their E3 showings. Never thought about it that way.

Hello there! It's sure so long time to return to this forum! I'm most excited about these new games for Wii U and 3DS. However I heard from my friend, the rumors I will tell you on here.

-New Super Mario U game for Wii U-
I heard Super Mario U will have Wart return, classic enemies, and sort of things that you will remember from. It will have Yoshi or something from Super Mario World. However, I unexpected that title, but its really not sound right name..."Super Mario Retroverse U". So its appear that would not be sequel of Super Mario Galaxy series. These classic things might return- Wart, Super Mario Bros. 2, Final boss. Cape Feather, a old power up have their debut from Super Mario World, another thing from Super Mario World, might will have Super Mario World enemies, Big Boo, and Yoshis. Rumor this new "Super Mario U" game have release set in this year's October.

Somewho said that The 3D Mario is coming out this October and a working title for it is Super Mario Retroverse U! It's supposed to be a huge game with open world levels and a bunch of different mechanics and ideas. It's "a risky" title apparently.

-New Zelda U-
It will long time to await this new game come outs about in mid-2015. New Zelda is a mid-2015 title at the soonest. Aiming to have the game look like the tech demo from two years ago.

-Mario Kart U-
Mario Kart U is a souped up Mario Kart 7 with Miiverse integration...

-Super Smash Bros. 4
Super Smash Bros. 4 will be unveiled with new roster additions, some unveiled during the Direct, some kept a secret.

-Yarn Yoshi-
Yarn Yoshi will have new trailers!

I loved the Super Mario 3D World trailer, which means that I must get that game. Why, you ask? Easy question!

My Mario predictions:

-Showcase A LOT MORE Mario Party 3DS... including MORE CHARACTERS... READABLE ENGLISH TEXT... and a proper title. I would like to see more of Rosalina's role too :P

-I don't think they will showcase Mario and Luigi Dream Team since it is already out in most places and it is coming out on Sunday in North America. They might advertise it though (I would love to see a comedy sketch of Reggie and Miyomato going into Iwata's dreams :P)

-Super Mario 3D World - maybe show another villain... maybe talk a bit about the story! MORE ON THE CAT SUIT! Also... I wanna see how Tanooki Peach will look :3

-Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze... 4TH KONG WILL BE DK JR! (They did say it would be surprising :P)

-Mario Kart 8 Characters and maybe some more NEW things (I actually think they are gonna showcase it. I dont think it'll be absent)

-NEW CHARACTERS FOR MARIO AND SONIC 2014???

-I also hope they make a surprise announcement like a new Paper Mario, a new Mario Baseball, a new MARIO SUNSHINE or something completely new.

-IWATA :D

I wouldn't be expecting Mario Kart 8, Brookelas.

So on announced games we heard before, so we'll likely expect new information and footage. Maybe they'll also explain the StreetPass Relay System, too. I tried that today, but no luck.

I also expect to see The Wonderful 101, since that's coming out in a few weeks for Europe and Japan.

I wouldn't be expecting Mario Kart 8, Brookelas.

I am actually expecting it just because it seems like one of the most anticipated titles (Mario Kart is probably one of the best series in the franchise)... so I would actually be slightly surprised if they DIDN'T show it :P

Mario Kart 8 is possible, since it's an announced game, but I think they're trying to focus on games that will come out in 2013. Mario Kart 8 comes in Spring 2014, and that's not 2013.

I agree with this; Mario Kart 8? Not this time. It's not coming in 2013 like SM3DW.

If my prediction with revealing a character with the new Smash Bros is correct, now would be th etine for revealing them.

I don't think the W101 will be covered much, or possibly not at all, as the Nintendo Direct exclusively for it should be out next month.

I heard that this direct will be mostly about The Wonderful 101, I hope this is not the case because I'm looking forward to some information on DKCTF and Smash 4. A new character might get revealed or a new stage possibly.

News on MP3DS / MK8 will be nice

This, Yarn Yoshi, and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze.
I'm all set. Though, it's most likely going to absent of Yarn Yoshi news. I have made a list of expected news:

-DKCTF (most likely the fourth character... a theory I had is that perhaps blowing things will return. But only this fourth character can blow things, and DK can only pull things. I also am trying to see if perhaps the fourth character is another girl. While it seems unlikely, it would certainly bring surprise to us)
-Mario Party 3DS
-Super Mario 3D World
-Legend of Zelda ALBW
-Legend of Zelda WWHD
-Mario and Luigi: Dream Team + Black 3DS XL
-Pikmin 3 reminder ("Remember, Pikmin 3 is out now.")
-Wonderful 101 revelation of when the Nintendo Direct will be, probably no other news to save for the ND for it.
-Pokemon Rumble U
-Flipnote Studio 3D

Possible news:
-Mario Kart 8
-Super Smash Bros.
-Yoshi's New Island
-Pokemon X and Y

Unlikely news:
-Zelda Wii U
-Yarn Yoshi (we could however, get the final name of it at LEAST)
-Mario and Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympics
-Sonic Lost World
-The mysterious third Sonic game
-Any new Mega Man game because Capcom is a scrub ;-;

And I pray my Smash Bros. theory is correct, as I want to see a character confirmed. I literally can see it now! They transition from Yarn Yoshi to "more news on Yoshi" which shows a little CGI trailer for him. Please Nintendo... I need my Yoshi fix.

Here's the press release on everything from Nintendo Direct today:

Quote from: Press Release
REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Animal Crossing fans are getting a new place on Wii U where they can talk about their towns and share images with players from all over the world. Nintendo announced the free Animal Crossing Plaza application during today’s Nintendo Direct presentation. Nintendo also discussed a variety of other topics about Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games, including the debut of the Pokémon series on Wii U with Pokémon Rumble U and the story behind The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for Nintendo 3DS.

“The second-half of 2013 is packed with great games and great experiences for Nintendo fans, from new entries in longstanding franchises to software that highlights the many benefits of connecting our hardware to the Internet,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “We’re always on the lookout for new ways that our fans can interact with their favorite game series, and Animal Crossing Plaza extends the fun of the infectious series to Wii U.”

To view the Nintendo Direct in its entirety, visit http://www.nintendo.com/nintendo-direct. (http://www.nintendo.com/nintendo-direct.) Some of today’s announcements included:

Wii U News

Animal Crossing Plaza: A new application on Wii U for Animal Crossing fans is now available for download for free in the Nintendo eShop. The service will run through the end of 2014, and allows Animal Crossing fans from around the world to meet, interact and exchange information through the Animal Crossing Miiverse community. Players can import images they took in Animal Crossing: New Leaf for Nintendo 3DS, custom design QR Code patterns via their SD cards and organize them in albums. Players also can post messages to Miiverse with those images. The QR Code patterns posted can also be directly scanned and used in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Players can select their favorite animal in the Animal Crossing Plaza to post about those specific animals or view posts only about them. If players want to see more posts, they can jump directly to the Animal Crossing series Miiverse community from Animal Crossing Plaza.

Pokémon Rumble U: Players have the opportunity to befriend some of the Toy Pokémon that they defeat in battle. People can play as, and do battle against, every one of the 649 Pokémon that have appeared in the video games through Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2. Pokémon Rumble U also lets players bring the game into the real world with optional, collectible NFC Figures that let them access Toy Pokémon with Special Traits in the game by scanning them with the Wii U GamePad controller. Players can purchase 18 different Figures exclusively through GameStop stores once Pokémon Rumble U launches. These NFC Figures are not required to see everything the game has to offer, but are a fun new way to interact with Wii U. Pokémon Rumble U launches exclusively in the Nintendo eShop on Aug. 29.

Challenger Approaching!: Luigi has been confirmed as a playable character in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo is calling 2013 “The Year of Luigi” due to the high number of games that Mario’s brother is starring in, such as Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon for Nintendo 3DS and New Super Luigi U for Wii U.

Sonic Lost World from SEGA: Launching exclusively for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS on Oct. 22, the game features radio-controlled gadgets that can be created and customized on Nintendo 3DS and sent to a player’s Wii U for use in cooperative multiplayer mode. Players use these gadgets to destroy enemies and collect items.

Rayman Legends from Ubisoft: Even Rayman likes to cosplay! The Wii U version of the game will include a special bonus: Players will be able to unlock a Mario costume for Rayman and a Luigi costume for Globox. Players on the Wii U version will also have access to select fan-favorite stages from the previously released Rayman Origins game. Rayman Legends launches Sept. 3.

Art Academy: SketchPad: This application, headed to the Nintendo eShop on Aug. 9, uses features from an upcoming edition of the Art Academy series for Wii U to let users create original artwork that can be posted directly to Miiverse.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD: This reinvented HD version of the Nintendo GameCube classic features several adjustments that enhance the overall play experience, such as faster sailing. The game launches this October.

Pikmin 3 on Miiverse: The recently released Pikmin 3 game allows players to capture in-game images from the eye-level of diminutive Pikmin, and post them directly to Miiverse. Nintendo is asking fans to post their most creative captions for a series of Miiverse images that will be posted to the Wii U Facebook page in the coming weeks. The top captions will be highlighted for everyone to see and enjoy.

The Wonderful 101: Stay tuned! A special installment of Nintendo Direct dedicated to The Wonderful 101 is coming at 7 a.m. PT on Aug. 9. The game launches in stores and in the Nintendo eShop on Sept. 15.

Nintendo 3DS News

Layton-Mania: The third game in the latest Professor Layton series will launch in 2014, as will a new crossover adventure co-starring Capcom’s Phoenix Wright in Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds: The game’s logo represents one of its key plot points: Link will undergo a new adventure across two worlds. In one world, the iconic Triforce exists, while the shadowy Triforce in the logo suggests the existence of another Triforce in a different world from where Link lives. Taking place long after the events of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, some of the game’s scenery will be familiar to fans of the series, while its puzzles and dungeons are new. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds launches this November.

Summer Carnival ’92: RECCA: This notoriously hard-to-find Famicom game was originally designed for a games festival in Japan in the summer of 1992. It’s remembered as being one of the most challenging shooters ever created, and it’s coming to the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS soon.

Virtual Console Games: More classics are headed to Nintendo 3DS. The NES version of Donkey Kong launches Aug. 15, followed by Tecmo Bowl in September. Game Boy Color platformer Wario Land 3 is coming soon, and Super Mario Bros. 3 will be released in the Nintendo eShop on both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS later this year.

Exclusive Animal Crossing: New Leaf Item at Nintendo Zone: Starting Aug. 11, owners of Animal Crossing: New Leaf can visit any Nintendo Zone location to receive a Pumpkin Pie in-game item. Visit a Nintendo Zone, then go to the post office in the game and ask about a present. Different in-game items will be distributed every two weeks through late September.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team: The latest hand-held adventure for this super sibling duo launches in stores and in the Nintendo eShop on Aug. 11. While exploring the two massive worlds of the real world and Luigi’s dream, players can customize their play experience by equipping different badges and gear that impart different benefits in battle. Players can also extend their play experience by taking on Expert Challenges, such as dodging 10 consecutive enemy attacks to earn special gear.

Remember that Wii U and Nintendo 3DS feature parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visit http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu (http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu) and http://www.nintendo.com/3ds. (http://www.nintendo.com/3ds.)

It was delayed to 2014. They said that a while ago.

For info - I hope we get a little more info on that game, as well as Yoshi's New Island, and upcoming Eshop titles.
I hope (though know it's 100% not going to happen) for morw Fire Emblem DLC maps :P

I literally loved the second season of them! (and in case you're wondering - they released them by single-map, in bundles of 3, a pack (the exception to this is Apotheosis, which is only a single map pack), and seasons, which there was only 2 of (the first season based off of the magic cards, as I like to call them, where you face the heroes of prevision Fire Emblem Games, and the other, which I know to be called "Road to Grandmaster" or something, which contains a variety of different things in it of a higher difficulty. You can exclude the Golden Pack and the Scramble pack as bonus packs :P)

...ah, well - I doubt a third season will happen. Japan hasn't received a new one in a long time, so I believe they're done with those now...
...still, that one Nintendo Direct did say something about the game...

A Nintendo Direct Presentation was shown for the Nintendo 3DS Louvre Guide.

Spoiler: Louvre Direct (click to show/hide)

It's available now as a digital copy in Japan and Europe. There will also be a physical release, too. Retails for 1,800 Yen/17.99 Pounds/19.99 Euros. It will take up roughly about 12,000 blocks of space for your 3DS if downloaded.

EDIT: Also will be available in North America on Monday, December 2, 2013. Retails for $19.99. Physical release also coming.

One interesting thing of note, is that the retail version sold at the Louvre is language locked, not region locked. So a UK version will work on a North American 3DS.

This is what I posted in the comments of the main site:

Let me give some of you a word of advice. Go in with general, or even low, expectations tomorrow. Stop expecting new game announcements, hundreds of newcomers for Smash Bros, tons of new footage of every game announced at this point, and so on. I'm tired of seeing people disappointed after the ND because they didn't have everything handed over to them.

Expect little and you might be pleasantly surprised if they show some cool stuff off tomorrow.

I'm hoping for some info on MK8. It really looks awesome and can't wait to get it.

Although a Majora's Mask remake would be nice to hear...

I think they show off Tropical Freeze because it is getting relatively close to coming out and Mario Kart 8 since they haven't had much footage of the game since the release announcement. It would be nice if one of the Yoshi games got some attention.

6 in the morning!? Ah, well, luckily, my semester is over, so this will do. Like SZ said, I will keep my expectations low. And I bet they will definitely show Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, since it is coming up. Hopefully they also show Kirby: Triple Deluxe, too.

I have two half days this week, so I'm almost set! Mario Kart 8, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and some YoL! Anything plus a "Happy Holidays"! I hope that doesn't make Zambezi mad...

I'm a little the same way than SuperZambezi regarding tommorow Nintendo Direct, I'm not "trying" to expect too much, if there is, okay, cool, but if not I'm still okay with such a thing, but I won't start with an idea like "ooooh I'm sure they'll be something awesome!" no, I'll rather wait and see how it goes.

All I expect is some footage and news about Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8 and Kirby Triple Deluxe.
Maybe a few other things, but that's all I can see.

It would be strange if they didn't show MK8, but you never know. :P I wonder if Mario Golf will make it.

Same for Mario Golf, but I think it might be a Summer 2014 game, rather than a Spring 2014 game. More people golf in Summer, do they?

Wow, I forgot all about Mario Golf. It has not been given very many details about it and its release is soon (spring or summer or something like that). I'd say it has a slim chance.

No, they have not, and Marth was revealed on Thursday, November 7, 2013.

Also, a Nintendo email from Australia claims (http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=219048) that the Nintendo Direct will show games up to August 2014. Not sure what to think of this, but Spring 2014 in North America is Autumn 2014 in Australia. August 2014 in Australia is Winter there (Summer in North America).

I finally might be able to see one of these - it starts an hour before I have to work, so I can easily view it all before eatting breakfast (I hope).
I'll I'm hoping for everything I was hoping to see normally, which would actually be a new Smash Bros. Character (and a newcomer at most, though I still doubt it at this point - Nintendo likes to hide the newcomers if there are any :-\).

It's supposed to be on games that will be out this Spring. Doubt X comes out that soon.

Who knows. Apparently a bunch of Next Level employees were retweeting it too so maybe we'll see their next project or a port of Luigi's Mansion 2 that has been rumored for a while.

I'm kinda hoping for a new 3DS Fire Emblem.
I realize it's a little early, but it sold pretty well and it wouldn't be as hard to make as making one from scratch.

Huh? Mario Golf looks great. Camelot very rarely disappoints, they have a much better track record than Nd Cube. They've never made a bad golf game.

This might sound like a lot, but when can we just have a general direct instead of these specific ones, you know?

I mean, Japan got a general one, even though it was limited to the 3DS, but I just mostly want one featuring everything Nintendo's doing within the past while since E3 or something.

The Bayonetta 2 Nintendo Direct was AWESOME!! ;D ;D I love it when they put a lot of detail & effort in a game, & this game is no exception. The crossover costumes look either cute or foxy (especially her Star Fox costume). A woman who knows how to conquer the law of averages & still kick loose cannon, that's awesome. ;D ;D Is it just me, but when I look at Bayonetta, I get this weird impression tingling inside me; it's probably because she looks so freaking foxy. But, I'm definitely getting this game. ;D ;D   :luigi: :daisy:

That didn't come to be. But now, there is a Nintendo Direct announced for Japan and North America, on Wednesday, January 14, 2015! North America at 6:00 AM PST, while Japan has it on the same day at 11:00 PM JST. No Direct announced for Europe/Australia, but all they got was that you're getting a boost power, along with an image of Captain Falcon Mii Racing Suit in Mute City in Mario Kart 8.

EDIT: Direct announced for Europe/Australia.
